Another Strange “Hunting” Story

October 26, 2007

I know, I know.  Today has been a day of crazy hunting stories.  First, I made a post about Jacob’s Creature that has all of us who enjoy the great outdoors..trembling just alittle (Ok, maybe not).  And now..

(insert drumroll here)

There could possibly be a wild lion on the prowl in Cold Knob, West Virginia.  Not just a mountain lion though, those have been spotted from time to time–but a full grown African Lion, wild mane and all.

It seems there is an ongoing search effort taking place for an African Lion.  The report of the lion came about after a local hunter ran across his path while heading for his hunting blind.  He says he is 99% sure it was an African Lion, weighing in at around 250-350 pounds.  He should know.  He watched the lion for close to 40 minutes.

Animal control is currently busy baiting the area in hopes of keeping the Lion in the area and will be setting up an infrared camera to hopefully scope out what they are up against.  If it is decided the animal is definately a lion, then they will proceed to try to lure the lion into a bear trap that will keep the animal alive.  Their hope is to maybe take it to a Wild Cat Preserve about 40 minutes away.  (Makes you wonder where this cat could have come from.)

Now, not only do we have to worry about crazy Bigfoots  (Is “Bigfoots” the plural, or “Bigfeet?”  Just curious) in the wilds of Pennsylvania, but we now have the lions in West Virginia.

While I am discussing the interesting hunting stories of the East Coast–New York, you are not safe either.  I have heard that good ol’ Dick Cheney is heading your way for his next hunting trip.  Perhaps we should all just stay indoors–

The Beckley Register has reported that 20 pounds of chicken left as bait for the lion is GONE and officials are going up to Big Roaring Creek to check out the IR video camera that was left in the woods last week.

A rogue giant cat is nothing to be sneezed at, but still pales in comparison with the developing events in Western Pennsylvania. Some might call the two stories coincidence, but I will not. Curious and intellectually stimulating perhaps, but not coincidence.

(Jason, hope it is ok to put in the link, this is for scientific purposes)

    Hey Dualio,

I don’t mind links at all, as long as they aren’t specifically geared towards your business..this is interesting information. I will have to look into this thing myself–

I haven’t seen this yet. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Got something to say?
