The Adventurist Spans the Pacific

April 24, 2008

I really don’t do much needless self-promotion on the web, but I did happen to run across an interesting site linking here today that gave me an idea.  CLUB nature, based out of Japan, is a Japanese site dedicated to the simple pleasures of camping in Japan.  Most of you might cringe when I mention a foreign site, in a foreign language–but, to many of us adventure dwellers, language has no boundary.

With the information highway running at break-neck speed and new advances coming daily, there is no reason why we should not try to jump out of our own personal comfort zone once in awhile and see what the world has to offer.  There are many translator programs on the market that make just about any language accessable to the English speaking world.  My favorite translator at Google just happens to be free, and one that I do occassionally put to good use in my research.

Luckily, CLUB nature has done the dirty work for us and offered up a link to translate the site to english.

Not only do we have the added benefit of knowing that there are adventure seekers and outdoors enthusiasts around the world, but now we can step out of that comfort zone and get a few lessons in culture as well.

Obviously, The Adventurist leans towards an English speaking crowd.  As such, I tend to cover things more from English language countries.  In the 21st Century, with the addition of the Google Translater and other advances, it is not to out of reach to be able to connect with those far reaches of the word.  We may not understand THEIR language, but with a little work, there is a whole other world out there waiting to be explored.  Makes me wonder just how much more there is…

If I happened to pique your interest in the CLUB nature Blog, pay particular attention to the blogroll on the site.  Looks like he has used the Google translator, or another program as well.  If Any of you know of other interesting ‘foreign’ adventure or outdoors related sites?  Would love to see them.  Post a comment.
