Cobras in North Carolina? Animal Rights Group May Be To Blame
May 23, 2008
Now here’s a story that is a bit odd and terrifying! An animal rights group may be to blame for unleashing poisonous Cobras into the North Carolina wilds. You heard that right–COBRAS. The Moose Droppings blog, here at Skinny Moose Media, first brought this to my attention.
North Carolina wildlife officials have been called in to investigate the possibility that two Monocled Cobras could be on the loose in Onslow County. This comes just days after another Cobra (a King Cobra) was spotted in Cumberland County.
This is thought to be a stunt perpetrated by an animal rights group. Animal Protection Institute, the group being investigated, is trying to push a bill that would ban ownership of exotic pets in North Carolina. Not so sure that this was the right approach.
Moose, over at the Moose Droppings Blog made a couple of good points:
If a group or an individual purposely turned poisonous snakes loose I believe this should be considered a terrorist attack. Even if they didn’t turn them loose but falsely reported they did to make a point that should still be a terrorist attack in my book.
I have to agree. What if one of these snakes bit an unsuspecting hiker or child? The venom from a Cobra can kill in a matter of seconds. This is no joke! If you live in Onslow or Cumberland County in North Carolina, be extremely careful–these snakes are extremely dangerous and should only be approached by a professional.
Head over to the Moose Droppings Blog to get more information, including related articles and video over this recently discovered situation.
Unbelievable!
