Podcast: Adventure Edge Radio-Episodes 4 & 5

Adventure Edge Radio with Jimmy BuffThe Sierra Blogging Post has released two more podcasts of Adventure Edge Radio with Jimmy Buff.  I have been following this series since it’s inception and it has proven to be quite a resource for adventure news and information.  Somehow I got behind a week with my updates to the podcast, but that’s alright because I am making up for it today by giving you a double dose.

Episode 4 of Adventure Edge Radio takes us back to the recent tragedy on K2.  While I covered this event myself, Adventure Edge Radio adds in some nice quality sound bites and some updated information.  Jimmy Buff also talks about the recent Leadville 100 mountain bike race–where 7 time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong made his recent return to cycling, albeit on a different kind of bike.  The Leadville 100 has become known as one of the toughest and most prestigious endurance mountain bike races on the planet.  If K2 and the Leadville 100 are not enough, Adventure Edge Radio also covers an interesting kayaking trip–1700 miles from Chicago to New York City solo.

Along with the news, Episode 4 also talks with Charlie Engle–a world reknown endurance athlete who has made a complete 360.  Charlie talks about his alcohol and drug addictions, coming clean, and being the first man to run the 4,500 mile Sahara Desert.  His interview is inspiring and proves that lives can be changed.  It’s a good message.

Podcast: Adventure Edge Radio with Jimmy Buff–Episode 3

The coverage of the recent tragedy on K2 has resulted in The Adventurist getting a couple of days behind with other news and updates.  This may take me a day or so to catch up on, but I am pretty sure all of you will agree that there were more important things going on that I had to stay with-if you have been around this site very long, you already know that when something big breaks, my attention goes there.  With the news of the recent K2 tragedy starting to die down, it is time to get back to a sense of normalcy at The Adventurist.

Adventure Edge Radio with Jimmy BuffLast week,  I touched upon a new podcast I discovered over at The Sierra Trading Post.  The podcast, “Adventure Edge Radio with Jimmy Buff”, has become a part of my weekly listening habits.  Jimmy touches on a lot of different areas, shares some of his expertise and thoughts, and always offers great interviews with some of the leaders in the adventure world.

This weeks podcast in no different.

Episode 3 of Adventure Edge Radio finds Jimmy discussing Sir Richard Branson’s ongoing project to make space tourism a reality.  While this would be a great feat and drum up much interest in space exploration, Branson’s new formula for success is also going to rely upon being publicly accepted.  I am pretty sure there won’t be a problem there.  Jimmy offers up some nice sound bites of Sir Richard discussing his latest foray into space tourism and what the future might have in store.

Sierra Trading Post Introduces ‘Adventure Edge Radio with Jimmy Buff’

The Sierra Trading Post has launched a new weekly podcast program entitled “Adventure Edge Radio with Jimmy Buff“.  I am a week late on this discovery, as the podcast program started last week, but better late than never. Right?

Jimmy Buff, who hosts the program, will be familiar to some of us.  He is an adventurer and radio DJ who has worked with some of the top radio stations in New York City.  His latest venture, ‘Adventure Edge Radio’ will be featuring a weekly interview with known outdoor sports personalities, as well as covering weekly sports and outdoor news.

I have to admit that this program is pretty good.  It is an audio podcast that can play in the background without disrupting your work-to a degree.  You also have the option of downloading the program straight from the Sierra Trading Post blog.  I found myself venturing off and really trying to listen to what was going on.

The first edition of ‘Adventure Edge Radio’ featured at look at legendary long distance swimmer, Lynne Cox.  Lynne is known throughout the world for her long distance swimming abilities.  She has swam the English Channel, breaking both the mens and womens records for this event.  Lynne is also noted for her Arctic and Antarctic adventure swims.  It is a really good podcast, and if you want a nice introduction to this new series I highly recommend you start from the beginning.  You can find the first episode of Adventure Edge Radio by clicking the link, or you can download it here, for your IPod listening  pleasure.

This week’s podcast, the second in the series, features a few nice pieces.  Jimmy Buff talks with Ben Cheever, novelist and at-large writer for Runner’s World magazine.  He also gives us an inside look at the recent Badwater Ultramarathon, features an update on the search for legendary aviator Steven Fossett, and checks in with Roz Savage, who is currently atempting to row across the Pacific Ocean.  Once again, to listen to the second episode of Adventure Edge Radio, follow the link, or you can download the whole program here.

Sierra Trading Post will be featuring a new edition of Adventure Edge Radio with Jimmy Buff, every Tuesday.  Mark your calendars, or do as I did and subscribe to the Sierra Trading Post’s Blog for the latest updates.  This promises to be an interesting and informing weekly program and I wish both, Jimmy Buff and the Sierra Trading Post sucess on this latest venture.  It is nice to have a new voice in the adventure world.  Stop by and wish them well and support their program.
