Pour me one
I saw a clip of our President pouring a beer online yesterday. If I can find it I’ll post it, because it was a tragically horrible pour! Glub glub glub foam everywhere! Here is how I pour beer.
Its important to start with a clean pint glass. Yes, a 16 ounce glass is perfect for a 12 ounce beer. And by clean I mean BEER CLEAN. I hand wash my pint glasses and towel dry, but make sure not to leave any lint.
I hold beer in one hand, glass in the other. Tilt the glass at a 45 degree angle and start pouring slowly down the side. As the glass fills I tip it slowly upright. The last couple of ounces should pour out of the bottle right down the center of the upright nearly full glass. This should give about an inch or so of head. Mmmm, an oatmeal stout pours out with a wonderfully light chocolate colored head. (I digress.)
The nice thing with this method is being able to stop the pour without dumping any sediment into your pint. If you’re pouring a Unibroue Trois Pistoles or Sam Adams White this way you’re able to leave most of the dregs behind.
Cheers!
