Sprecher Hefe Weiss review
I apologize for running another review right after the Dopple Bock, but a quick check of my supply for reviews showed only two left! Somehow the 8 bottles from the sample pack end up disappearing before I have a chance to record my thoughts about it. I might have to pick up another pack for further study.
I’m surprised the Sprecher Hefe Weiss was still in the beer fridge, since it is my wife’s favorite. The Weiss pours cloudy golden with a white head. The first sip is all about the citrus, banana, clove contributions from the wheat yeast. There is just a hint of hop on a bigger mouthful, mostly because I am searching for it. It is very well balanced and in line with what I am coming to expect from this brewery. I will admit to being surprised by this, because of other micros I’ve tried either nail the light beers and flub dark ales, or nail the dark strong ales and goof up the lighter ones.
Look for a couple more Sprecher reviews later, just as I look for more from the Premium Reserve line. It might come down to asking folks closer to Milwaukee to grab a few for me! All I have ever seen in my area are the sample packs.
To recapitulate, the Hefe Weiss tastes true to style and something to aspire for in my brewing when I do wheats. A hearty mug in the air for this one!
I wonder if they’d dare try a Cranberry wheat?
Not exactly a traditional Bavarian style, though is it?
Cheers!

[...] odd that I purchased the 8 pack of pint bottles just for two of the beers in there, but I’ve reviewed several other beers from Sprecher and I really don’t mind having to drink the others in there [...]
