Schlitz Beer
Yup, Schlitz.
I couldn’t resist picking up the six pack for $5.99 at our local liquor store. I’ve heard a lot of jokes about Schlitz beer, but since they came out with their 60’s formulation, I figured “why not.”
Now, I only tried one beer last night. (and I might have had another with lunch, but that is part of the job description.) There was no way I was drinking more than one in a sitting, even though the publicity assures us it is different. My puppy is just getting over a bout of the schlitz, I’m done changing diapers full of schlitz, and I didn’t want to be knocked down for a day cursing the schlitz from the Schlitz.
Here’s the big surprise though. It was good. It had some nice hop presence, fair mouthfeel and a crisp slightly sweet finish. Thats why I was able to put a couple more in the fridge. I’m still not willing to test the beer in a session, but one at lunch or after dinner doesn’t seem that bad!
I’m not sure if I enjoyed it because I was expecting so much worse (Blatz) or not, but either way I am not disappointed in my purchase. I might even do it again… maybe.
Cheers!
Tony

[...] Commentary on Jessica Simpson pushing a beer? Not really, her face on a bottle of beer won’t make me buy it any more that another beer, if it look interesting. Honestly, if I saw it on a shelf here I might give it a try. I suppose there is some novelty to that, same as Schlitz. [...]
