Schlitz beer in the news again
My local paper must be hard up for “real” news*, we have another beer related article today! Schlitz is roaring in its home town of Milwaukee trying to relive past glory.
Schlitz was the top-selling beer for much of the first half of the 20th century. But recipe changes and a series of snafus made the beer — in many a drinkers’ opinion — undrinkable, turning what was once the world’s most popular brew into little more than a joke.
I know I’ve commented on that joke recently. I’m glad to see more variety in the macrobrew offerings and actually applaud Pabst for going in this direction rather than trying for a syrupy micromimic like AB has done.
Good on them, and if the sixers stay under $5 I’ll probably pick up another.
Cheers!
Tony
*Not that I have a problem with that, I’m very glad when nothing noteworthy happens. Our press only likes bad noteworthy things, evil sells.
