Guinness going red.
The Dethroner is reporting Guinness testing a red style beer in some pubs in the UK.
Just like the name implies, Guinness Red has a distinctive dark red body, which comes from the barley being roasted more lightly in the style of an Irish red ale.
I hope it is successful enough to make it over the pond. While I don’t have plans to visit any time soon it would be nice to taste both the original as well as the new red the way it was meant to be. Sure, I might be building it up in my mind but honestly, what stateside beer drinker (good beer drinker) hasn’t had a pint of the dark and wondered what it would taste like actually in Ireland?
Good luck to Guinness with the red.
Cheers!
Tony
