Open Air With Tom Remington Broadcast For May 1, 2008
May 1, 2008
Today’s show went off without any glitches…..I don’t think. I gave a heads up to all my friends in Northern Maine who may be suffering from the floodwaters of the St. John River. I wanted to let them know they were in my thoughts and prayers. I also shared some of my personal experiences of visiting “The County”.
I also shared my experiences of last weekend attending a three-game home set of baseball games between the Tampa Bay Rays and Boston Red Sox at Tropicana Field. The Rays swept the series of which I never thought I would live long enough to see that. Last year during the early part of the season, I witnessed the Rays sweep the New York Yankees in three games. That was sweet.
I spent a great deal of time talking about the first time I, as a non-subscriber of cable television, got to watch my first episode of CostasNow featuring longtime sports icon Bob Costas. Wow! Was I surprised as Costas talked with sports writer Buzz Bissinger and founder/writer/blogger Will Leitch from Deadspin.com.
It was quite amazing to watch the interaction between a 40-year veteran sports journalist of the old world so proud of his years of “perfecting his craft” attempt to put down a bright and quick witted young Leitch that presents sports in a completely, and I mean completely, different light.
At the end of the show, I have a little surprise for you and a preview of an upcoming show.

Open Air With Tom Remington Broadcast For April 24, 2008
April 25, 2008
Once again a not so successful attempt was made by me to figure out the best equipment to use for broadcasting Skinny Moose Radio shows but I ended up with a finished project.
Much of the first have of the show I did a commentary on hunting ethics and “bastardizing the hunting heritage”. I then shared a hilarious Nancy Pelosi story of her “bible” quotes, that seem to be nonexistent.
I share with listeners about the growth of my work and in particular the Black Bear Blog.
The last part of the show I need to make a clarification. I read a list of statements that are floating around the Internet and in particular in people’s in boxes. These statements are being attributed to Abraham Lincoln and I explained that it appears that Lincoln is not the creator of such fine work. What I failed to do during that broadcast was to tell listeners who gets the credit and for that I apologize. The credit seems to go to one William J.H. Boetcker.

Open Air Broadcast For March 27, 2008
March 28, 2008
Finally, I think I got the show uploaded to the server. I apologize to everyone trying to listen in to the live broadcast of this show that continuously got booted off the air. I’m still working to find out what specifically is causing that. So, let’s move on.
Below is an audio player where you can listen to yesterday’s show. Simply click the play button or right click and save it to your hard drive. You can also find all of the shows archived on this web site on this page.
I wanted to give you some links where you can find information that I referred to during the show. In this broadcast I lamented about all the candidates for president along with the seemingly waning quality of the individuals these days holding office. To recap, we have one candidate associated with a racist, hate monger who despises the United States of America, another who feels compelled to lie about past events as First Lady in order to embellish her “experience” to the voters and a third candidate who wants to buy and sell carbon credits, give college scholarships to more terrorist and sit down and negotiate away our position of strength as a world leader. Hmm, what would Reagan do?
I spoke also of the deep snows of northern Maine and I said I would get some photos posted for you to view. I will try to get those posted later today.
Jacob Westbrook is the dairy farmer from New Jersey who was fined $8,000 for shooting a bear and her cub because they were destroying his crops. The press labeled him a “hunter”. Read about that here.
Looks like it’s a knock down drag out fight over wolves in Idaho. I told you about two people on both ends of the wolf continuum who, it appears, actually came to a physical altercation over their passions - one to rid the planet of wolves and the other to populate the planet with wolves at any cost. Read about that here.
I spent a considerable amount of time sharing about an article published in TownHall.com by Hugh Hewitt about the broader affects that listing the polar bear as a threatened or endangered species could have on all of us. If you consider the scope of possibilities, which isn’t difficult to do when you look back at the history of court cases involving the Endangered Species Act, it becomes quite worrisome and it is something we all should be aware of. Read Hewitt’s article here.
Finally, “Climate Facts to Warm To“, an article about the collection of new data from new equipment around the globe that is telling scientists it’s time to rework the computer models that project climate change. The science isn’t settled and thank God we have intelligent scientists who believe that research will continue.
I didn’t cover this in yesterday’s show, but someone evidently has forgotten to tell the arrogant and self-righteous ex-vice president Al Gore that science continues even if it messes with his opportunities to make billions of dollars off scaring the hell out of people. Gore interviews with CBS’s Lesley Stahl about new science and hundreds and hundreds of world renowned scientists who are now stepping up to the microphone and saying there’s much more to this climate change issue that just carbon dioxide. This is what Gore says about those who want to learn more about climate change.
Al Gore says that thinking climate change isn’t manmade is like believing the moon landing was staged and that the earth is flat.

Techno Glitches Gives A Man Gray Hairs
March 28, 2008
First my apologies to anyone attempting to log on to the live broadcast of Open Air With Tom Remington yesterday at 3 p.m. Due to technical problems, of which I am still trying to figure out and sort through, that’s why I’m way behind in my work this morning, you may have been booted off the air while trying to listen in. As near as I can figure out, if the connection or transfer speed is too slow or has interference, the connection gets lost which would force a user to close out a browser and open a new one and try again. This seemed to go on all through the show.
Fortunately, I recorded the show but once again, for some reason, again for which I haven’t figured out yet, I am having difficulties (putting it nicely) getting the file uploaded to the server.
As soon as I can get this corrected, the show will be available for streaming and I will put up a notice.
Thanks for your understanding and once more my apologies.

Open Air Broadcast For March 20, 2008
March 21, 2008
For those who missed yesterday’s show, I’ll provide an audio player at the end of this post so you can listen or download it to your computer to listen later.
This show is actually light and full of things to make you laugh, so I don’t have a lot of links to resources to give you that I used during the show. Let me provide the highlights and a few of the resource links.
There’s a repeat of “The Obamaman Can” music audio that I’ve played in the past that for anyone who may have missed it, it’s there. Also, a reader and friend sent me the link to an audio that I found to be funny and contagious. Supposedly it takes place in the Dallas, Texas - Ft. Worth area. A guy on his way to an appointment calls his friend or roommate to let him know he is running late. Right after he reaches his friend’s voice mail, he witnesses a car accident right in front of him in the middle of an intersection. A man runs a red light and crashes into a car load of old women. What ensued is hilarious. Worth listening to a few times because things happen so fast you can’t take it all in.
Have you noticed these days that anger and insults seem to be the norm? In our everyday, we run into people who think it is commonplace to flip you off, call you names using mostly four-letter words, and mostly embarrass themselves in showing their own ignorance because they lack a certain skill in insulting someone sometimes without them realizing what you just did.
Not that many years ago, people had to employ a clever use of the English language in order to insult someone. The end result was probably more effective without the used of the common and vulgar words common today.
I share a list of statements made by some of the world’s best at manipulating the language. As and example, Samuel Johnson once said, “He is not only dull himself; he is the cause of dullness in others.” Listen in and get the whole list. You’ll want paper and pen handy so you can write them down.
And not to let you off the hook from global warming, I wanted to share some information just released by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory of results of robots monitoring of the oceans’ waters. You might find the results interesting. That information can be found at this link.
The last portion of the show is dedicated to the discussion of District of Columbia vs. Heller.
I think you’ll enjoy the show.

Open Air With Tom Remington
March 20, 2008
Today’s show, airing at 3 p.m., is brand new and one I think you’ll really enjoy. After having spent two grueling weeks buried in work, much of the show is light and full of stuff to make you laugh.
I found a recording of a guy in Texas who supposedly is placing a phone call to a buddy on his cellphone, when he witnesses an accident happening right in front of him between a man who runs a red light and four old ladies driving a Chevy Impala. It’s hilarious and you can’t miss it.
Also, I share a complete list of “When insults had class”. Back in the day, people were more apt to cleverly use the English language to find ways of insulting people. Unlike today when it is mostly four-letter words and hand gestures, yesterday’s insults were a bit more difficult to follow. So, listen in and maybe you can learn how to crude somebody out in a “nice” way.
And you didn’t think you could completely get away without some kind of update on climate change did you? I share a brief announcement that NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory has announced that their underwater robots report the ocean waters have neither warmed or cooled since 2003.
I play a little “The Obamaman Can” for those of you worried that our economy and the world in general is going to hell, we have the Obamaman.
The last segment of the show is a brief synopsis of Tuesday’s oral arguments in the Supreme Court case of District of Columbia vs. Heller. Don’t miss any of it.

Open Air With Tom Remington March 6, 2008 Broadcast
March 7, 2008
Below you’ll find an audio player to listen to the March 6, 2008 broadcast of Open Air With Tom Remington. All other broadcasts are archived and you can find a listing of those shows here.
I’d like to take a moment and list for you links to resources where much of the information discussed on the broadcast can be found.
For those who missed the video when I first posted it the other day, you can find the YouTube video of “The Obamaman Can” at this link.
I told you about a handful of senators in Utah who some are saying are wearing select pins on the lapels of their jackets to let others in the know, know who is carrying concealed. ABC4 has that story.
I talked extensively about wolves and provided you with an update on a confirmed killing of a gray wolf in western Massachusetts by a sheep farmer last fall. In that story, from the Boston Globe, writer Beth Daley explains what biologists from the Mass. Division of Fisheries and Wildlife concluded.
After 13 sheep and lambs were killed and partially eaten on a Shelburne farm one day last October, biologists from the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife visited the farm. They concluded that a domestic dog had probably attacked the flock, on grounds that a wolf would have eaten the entire carcasses and that the tracks did not appear to be those of a wolf.
I sure would like to where the scientific evidence is that wolves eat everything they kill and dogs don’t.
In addition, there has been much controversy over how Alaska handles its predator control programs. During the broadcast, I read some facts about Alaska’s program and how it works. You can find all that information at the Alaskans for Professional Wildlife Management website.
The remainder of the show is spent mostly discussing the recent International Conference on Climate Change that took place in New York City on March 2 - 4, 2008. I read a great deal from the opening remarks at the Conference by the President of the Heartland Institute, Joseph L. Bast. This link will give you the entire text of the remarks.
I also mentioned an article by Noel Sheppard of NewsBusters in which he made reference to CNN’s Miles O’Brien calling the scientists attending this conference no different than members of the “Flat Earth Society”. This link takes you to the website of All Things Anderson where you can find the video of the interview done by Miles O’Brien. (scroll down the page to the last embedded video shot)
Lastly, I mentioned that John Coleman, founder of The Weather Channel, is suggesting it is time to sue Al Gore and all those promoting global warming as a planet crises caused by man in order to draw attention back to the scientific debate on climate changes. Noel Sheppard also covered that, with video.
