Youngsters who enjoy the outdoors and want to learn more about it are encouraged to attend.
Kansas youth ages 10 through 12 will spend mornings exploring the grounds at Rock Springs with instructors, experiencing Kansas animals and plants close-up. Session subjects include insects, mammals, reptiles and amphibians, fish management, wildlife management, wetlands, birds, and stream ecology.
Afternoons will be spent learning about birds of prey, skins and skulls, bats, streams, and more general topics, including ecology, wetlands, riparian areas, and watersheds. New Products Listing
New Product: Classic Buffalo Horn HowlerCompany: Predator Sniper Calls/Tri-State Outdoors Booth Number: #516, 417 Contact: Brent Rueb Phone: 785-332-2731 Description: Buffalo horn howlers have been around since hunters first parted prairie grasses in pursuit of the “Big Shaggy.” A seasoned buffalo horn makes a fine call, but as with all products, supply and demand have driven up the price beyond the reach of a working man’s pay. With the introduction of the Classic Buffalo Horn Howler, you can enjoy the same quality, versatility and wide variety of calls at a price that is less than half the cost of a custom buffalo horn howler. These quality calls produce the exact tone and they have the same weight and feel of a real buffalo horn. You’ll appreciate the hand engraved coyote silhouette and custom look and feel, but most of all you’ll appreciate the sweet sound that emanates from a howler molded from an authentic buffalo horn. Care was taken to make this reproduction a carbon copy of a custom engraved howler, down to the slightest detail. Most importantly, this howler isn’t about looks alone. Although you may be tempted to put it on the mantel as a showpiece, this is a workhorse that yearns to be worked hard. When you raise this howler to your lips, you better be ready because the ‘yotes will come running. This howler is easy to blow, so it’s great for introducing young callers to the sport. The tone board is designed to be easily manipulated and you’ll be able to quickly master the full gamut of coyote vocalizations including: yips, barks, coyote distress, KiYi’s, puppy whines, howls, lone howls, spacing howls, female invitations, the widower howl and the coyote hunting call. The Classic Buffalo Horn Howler is intended to out last the caller, and with the quality that has been built into this call, you’ll be able to pass on your love for predator hunting to several generations! A Lifetime Replacement Warranty guarantees that if the reed, tone board or body of this howler fails for any reason, you simply return the failed part(s) to Predator Sniper Calls and you’ll be back in business quickly. |
New Product: Death Cry Predator Call PackageCompany: Predator Sniper Calls/Tri-State Outdoors Booth Number: #516, 417 Contact: Brent Rueb Phone: 785-332-2731 Description: The Right Tone: Manufactured from aluminum, our calls produce great sound quality. Realistic Coyote Communications: These calls make mastering distress cries easy; Yips, Barks, Coyote Distress, KiYi’s, Puppy wines, Howls, and Coyote Hunting Calls. Successful predator callers need to put feeling and emotion in to their distress cries. Death Cry Predator Calls mimics the pain and mournful Death Cries of rabbits. The Death Cry, with it’s narrow thinner reed duplicates the higher death cries of a cottontail. The Death Cry II, with a wider and thicker reed, duplicates the lower raspy death cries of a jackrabbit. These Death Cry distress sounds push a predator’s hunger & curiosity instincts through the roof, increasing calling success. Recreating Coyote vocalizations with the Death Cry Predator calls are very easy. The Death Cry call makes all the younger coyote vocalizations, while the Death Cry II makes, more mature coyote vocalizations. Both Death Cry calls push a coyote’s territorial instincts to unacceptable levels, and the fight is on! Death Cry Predator Calls are super easy to blow! The tone boards are designed to enable the user to master distress cries and coyote vocalizations of all kinds. The sounds produced by Death Cry Predator Calls’ aluminum bodies are more natural than sounds produced by ordinary thin, plastic calls. Lifetime Replacement Warranty. If the reeds, tone boards or body of these howlers fail for any reason, return the failed part(s) to the address below for a new replacement. When returning calls, or call parts for warranty work or exchange, please include a check or money order of $4 to cover shipping and handling of your return order. These howlers are intended to out last the caller! Works Great on Coyote, Bobcat, Fox and other Predators! |
New Product: Coyote Pack Howlers Predator Call PackageCompany: Predator Sniper Calls/Tri-State Outdoors Booth Number: #516, 417 Contact: Brent Rueb Phone: 785-332-2731 Description: These calls are covered in Mossy Oak Brush Camo and are Laser engraved. When you enter the territory of an alpha male coyote, often the only way to draw him in for a shot is by a direct challenge to his authority. With the Coyote Pack Alpha Male Howler, you become the dominant male interloper that sets up a showdown which usually happens very quickly. Just one series of howls with the Alpha Male Howler announces your presence and your intent to take over his territory - and his female. Multiple coyotes often show up to a challenge, because of the pack mentality. You’re passing out free front row tickets to an unscheduled heavyweight bout. With this howler you can produce louder, more aggressive coyote vocalizations as well as distress cries. Just keep in mind that the Alpha Male Howler is a serious call for use on wise, mature, dominate coyotes. They’re sure to become your secret go-to calls for tough situations that demand a dominate dog approach. For situations requiring a subtler tactic, the companion Subordinate Howler is the perfect choice. This howler is designed to reproduce younger, more jovial coyote vocalizations, and the all-important female barks and yips that say, “I’m home, and I don’t have a headache!” Lesser coyote vocals are non-threatening in nature, intended to establish contact with neighbors for an evening hunt, or a rousing round of barking the moon over the horizon. This call will quickly become your ace-in-the-hole. It is capable of making 90% of all the coyote vocalizations necessary for successful predator hunting. The sound of a rabbit in distress is the most popular sound used to lure unsuspecting coyotes into rifle range, but keep in mind that it is also a very effective call for bobcats and fox. This call produces top-quality squeals and plaintive cries at a volume that carries well in windy conditions. In fact, this call produces so much volume it’s advisable to start out with the first call of a set making a few soft squeals, just in case a coyote is closer than you think. If you start out blowing hard on this call, you’ll blow them into the next section of land. Both Coyote Pack Howlers are super easy to blow! The tone boards are designed so that it is easy to manipulate and master all types of coyote vocalizations and subtle variations of each. The authenticity of the sounds produced by these calls is more natural sounding than the calls produced by thin, plastic howlers. These calls are manufactured from aluminum and engineered to produce exceptional sound quality. The simplicity and ease of making quality coyote conversations is amazing. By varying the position of your lips and teeth on this open-reed call, you will quickly learn to make yips, barks, KiYis, puppy whines or distress yelps, howls, spacing howls, female invitations, the widower howl and the coyote call to go hunting. Coyotes are pack animals, and Predator Sniper Calls’ Coyote Pack Howlers can connect you to their party line in a hurry. Predator Sniper Calls are made by Tri-State Outdoors, manufacturers of the Predator Sniper Styx line of shooting sticks that have become so popular with dedicated varmint hunters nationwide. These calls are made with the intent of outlasting the caller, and they have a Lifetime Replacement Warranty that underscores their confidence in the quality of Tri-State Outdoors’ products. If the reeds, tone board or body of these calls fail for ANY reason, simply return the failed part(s). |

New Product: FoxPro Scorpion Electronic CallCompany: FoxPro, Inc. Booth Number: #516, 417 Contact: Phone: (717) 248-2507 FOXPRO is pleased to introduce the smallest and lightest weight caller in its class; weighing in at 1.00LB without batteries and 1.55LB with batteries. The Scorpion is packed with more features than any other unit of its kind and is equipped with the popular TX-200 remote control. This gives you more control at your fingertips than any other remote control in the industry-period. The TX-200 gives you 4 custom presets at the push of a button, which not only instantly plays the sound of your choice, but also at your pre-determined volume level (think about this–coyote ki-yi at high volume with one button press or rodent at low volume with another button press)–the only remote to offer this feature. Other popular features include a battery indicator, timer, volume indicator, recall button, full graphic LCD display (no more need for sound lists!), and more other features. PLUS, the Scorpion from FOXPRO also allows you to turn on and off your caller from the remote control. This allows you to set your caller out weeks in advance and be able to turn it on when you return for maximum scent control. Also included in the Scorpion is 100 sounds from the FOXPRO library–the Highest Quality Sound Library in the Industry–and the ability to hold up to 200 sounds, which are very easily added or changed with the built-in USB port (no reader/writer necessary). The sounds are stored across 1GB of internal memory. The Scorpion uses a Micro SD card, also known as trans flash. These cards can be changed by the user or the supplied card can be reprogrammed with the included USB port. Enjoy crisp and clear loud volume thanks to the built-in high efficient Mylar Cone Speaker and power amplifiers. Other features of the Scorpion include a battery management system, mono or stereo selectable, dual external speaker jacks, and much more! We have also added to the Scorpion the ability to control both of the external speakers with the TX-200 transmitter. This means that you can independently turn on or off either of the external speakers from the remote control. Also, you can elect to have the internal speaker disabled. The Scorpion will also play in stereo if desired. This is useful for the combination of sounds, such as the coyote and rabbit. As long the sound is downloaded into the Scorpion in a stereo format, you could have Speaker A playing the coyote sound and Speaker B playing the rabbit sound. Then you could remotely turn off Speaker A so that only the rabbit sound is playing. After a while, turn Speaker A back on, then turn off Speaker B. All of this is done from the TX-200 transmitter. The dimensions of the Scorpion are: 6.855″ x 4.571″ x 1.829″ As of 9-26-07 FOXPRO is accepting orders for the Scorpion. As an introductory offer, included with the purchase of a Scorpion will be included: • Auto Fast Charger System This is a value of over $84.00 available at no charge when purchasing the new FOXPRO Scorpion. |

The Sportsman Channel Implements New Strategy
Acquires exclusive rights to nine shows
InterMedia Outdoors, Inc. (IMO), the industry leader
and largest provider of Outdoors content, and parent company of The Sportsman Channel (TSC), announced last week that it chose not to renew its programming agreements with The Outdoor Channel (TOC), in order to shift its highly-rated and award-winning television shows to The Sportsman Channel. IMO will also increase its commitment of resources to TSC, integrating new and upgraded programming and content from IMO’s vast market-leading properties, which extend across print, television, radio and online mediums.
“We are going to build The Sportsman Channel into the leading outdoor network, both in distribution
and ratings, and shifting all of our programming to TSC is a major first step in that direction. We have led in every Outdoors category we have entered-magazine, internet, and television production-and now we will lead in networks,” said InterMedia Outdoors CEO Jeff Paro. “No other channel in the Outdoors category has ever had this kind of promotional strength behind it. We will actively and aggressively program TSC with hunting, shooting and fishing content, with a focus on high-quality original programming, production of our own shows, and partnerships with producers. TSC will be a better network for the consumer and a better value for the distributor.”
The upgrading of TSC will include integration of stories and content from the InterMedia Outdoors
portfolio, which include (monthly): 17 magazines reaching 23 million readers; 18 million page views across 24 websites, with 1.8 million unique monthly visitors; and 49 million radio listeners. IMO’s properties include such trusted brands such as Guns&Ammo, In-Fisherman and Petersen’s Hunting, Fly Fisherman and many others.
TSC and its partners will also benefit from leveraging and creating a multi-million dollar platform of
promotion, advertising sales and marketing across all IMO outlets.

This was in an email sent to me by a friend. I am trying to track down and verify this story and find out all the details.
The rumor is Cabela’s offered him $150,000 for this buck. If anyone has information on this story……………please email me at thecamogirl@gmail.com or send me a comment!!!
UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!3/13/2008
This is the story that was published in the local newspaper.
On the morning of 10/27/07, my 9 year old son, Baler Dee Stewart,
scored this awesome buck with a 50 cal muzzleloader in Ringling, Oklahoma.
This was his first time to fire this type of weapon. He fired then said
to his dad, Patrick Stewart, “Is this gun on, Dad?” Dad replies, “Yea.”
“Well then, I got him, Dad.”, states Baler.
This deer has not been officially scored. He has 30 points 1 inch or
longer. Out here on the farm, we count the ones you can hang a ring on.
Those total 41 points.
The wire in his horns went missing from my father-in-law’s garden in
September. My husband was accused of tilling it under. My father-in-law
had carefully placed it around his black-eyed peas, because a doe and
two fawns ate them up last year. He was determined to not let the deer
have them. My son seems to think his Papa Harley owes him some bounty
since he apprehended the thief. Papa is willing to deduct the bounty from
what Baler owes him for wire, seeds, fertilze, and labor that was put
forth in the making of this BUCK OF A LIFETIME.
Word got around about the buck that morning before checking him in.
When the buck, my husband, and son arrived at the check-in station, a
crowd greeted them. They were there for about 2 1/2 hours. So many pictures
were taken, my son said it gave him a headache. I’m not sure if it was
the flashes as much as the swelling that made his head hurt.

Citi Merchant Services and First Data Corp. have put the true meaning of “this is a hold up” to federally licensed firearms retailers, distributors and manufacturers. Banning these sales is a move which will severely limit available inventory of firearms and ammunition to military, law enforcement and law-abiding Americans.
As soon as I learned this I thought about what credit cards I owned and if any of them were from this company. I will never own a card nor will I apply for one under these circumstances.
Firearms distributor CDNN Sports Inc. got a first hand experience to the refusal transaction. It amazes me that a credit card company could have the audacity to say no to federally licensed retailers, distributors and manufacturers. If the law is trusting FFL licensees to uphold all aspects of policies and procedures, I have no clue why a credit card company is trying to ban sale of firearms. Its not like we get on the phone and call all the criminals when we get a shipment and have them stock up on inventory……Oh yeah thats right we are banning videos with guns and songs about guns, but yet the hunting and fishing community have a lower rate of death by accident then doctors have with accidental deaths.
I am glad to know that the NSSF has stepped in and replied to this ridiculuos action. To Read NSSF’s response to First Data just click on link. If you would like to reply to them or voice your concerns you are welcome to go to www.nssf.org.
To voice your concern to Citi Merchant Services and First Data Corp., please call 303-488-8000 or toll-free 800-735-3362.
I would hope that there is enough turbulence about this topic that Citi Merchant Service and First Data Corp change their mind about our right to bear arms and our right to spend our money the way we see fit.

Welcome to my official blog!! I am so excited to be a part of such a great group as well a great industry. I can’t brag on years of experience but I can brag on my passion and my love for hunting. I feel we, as hunters, get to enjoy the best part of life………………..the great outdoors. If life could only be taken like a day in the woods. Peace and tranquility would come from the brooks and streams that pass along the vast meadows. Quietness and the skill of listening comes from the soft wind whistling through the trees. Cheerfulness and kindness comes from the sound of birds singing a tune as the wildlife scurries around you. And just when you think you have life mastered long and behold comes this monster buck who takes your breath away leaving you the feeling of the world coming to a complete stop. Our day to day activities allow us to race through the day not realizing who we have let our mark on. We try to keep up with technology and all the duties we are embraced with…………………………………………………So to me, one day in the field to hunt………………….. is one day I can be blessed from the creator.
