ACC Spanks Big 10 8-3 in annual challenge

In what is forming into something similar to the Harlem Globetrotters streak against the Washington Generals, the ACC completed an 8-3 margin over the Big 10 in their annual challenge between the conferences. Is it really a “challenge” though?? I mean, the ACC is beating up on them like they were playing Division II schools, and the Big 10’s sake, have some pride! Bow out! Play someone like…I don’t know..the MAC?
Sure, the Big 10 has Michigan St. and Indiana…but what else? Wisconsin is waaaay overrated, Ohio St. is not even close to the level they were last year, Illinois has fallen off the charts, and the rest of the league is basically trying to keep their heads above water…Meanwhile, the ACC still top to bottom is one of the best out there (We should all know that by now being that Dick Vitale has been drilling into us forever, babeeeee…)
One thing that always mesmerizes me is the pairings. Who comes up with these things, Helen Keller? Why not have the annual match ups be paired #1 against #1, #2 against #2, and so on? At a minimum, hopefully that would alleviate some issues. I understand that this season would again be an anomaly because Ohio St isn’t the best team in the Big 10 and Duke/NC still is one of the best in the country.
What it comes down to is this–this challenge needs to be put to bed. It’s a joke. But no one ever listens to little old me…until of course it comes around tournament time, and then suddenly every year, the Big 10 with their overrated teams get beat in the first round of the NCAAs, and everyone talks about parity–I talk about come-comeuppance for hype’s sake.
