For the second time in three years, the Penn State Men’s Volleyball team has made it to the promised land–the NCAA Championship. After defeating seventh-ranked Ohio State (YEY BIG TEN!) in four games out in California, the Nittany Lions now go on to face big and bad Pepperdine in the final. Penn State is now 29-1 on the year, while the Buckeyes close out at 20-8.

The game scores for the four games were 30-21, 26-30, 30-22, 30-17, and while the last game seems a bit wide in terms of scoring margin, this was a very intense match, and in the three games that Penn State won, it was largely themed after Ohio State playing close for the first 10 points of the match, and then it was like the Nittany Lions had a fire lit under them as they put those games away.

A lot of credit for the Nittany Lions’ success has to go to senior setter , who had a sensational stats sheet: 50–yes that’s right–50 assists, 4 blocks, and a .410 hitting percentage. The Buckeyes really had no answer for him in terms of offense or defense, and with a balanced attack overall, Penn St. will be extremely tough to beat in the final, despite the fact that Pepperdine, for the most part, is playing more of a home game than the Happy Valley Hitters.

Good luck men!
