Joe Tiller’s final season driving 2008 Purdue Boilermaker Football Ticket Sales

Posted by Tim Gossett on July 5, 2008

Purdue has, for most accounts, been a solid team year in and year out in football. Lead by offensive-minded Joe Tiller, the Boilermaker football program has enjoyed bowl year after bowl year in his coaching tenure. However, as many expected, Tiller announced that the 2008 season would be his last as a head coach, and while Purdue fans are saddened to see their leader and maybe even ongoing success go with him, it is meaning a boost in preliminary ticket sales for the football program.

As of July 2, overall sales stood at 35,343. That includes 19,899 general public tickets, 1,567 faculty/staff and 6,544 student. Purdue sold 42,882 season tickets last year–and the season opener is still 2 months away.

It also doesn’t hurt that Purdue has seven games at home, including Michigan, Penn State, and in-state rival Indiana. The Boilers certainly want to send Tiller out on a great note, and it is apparent that they will probably end up with the highest amount of tickets sold in quite some time.
