Joe Tiller zings blogosphere at Big Ten Media day

I will admit it. When I heard the quote from Joe Tiller, I had to grin. Not that he wouldn’t have been expected to NOT say something like this, but it’s a point I have tried to put out there for a while in terms of the perception that Big Ten football is down or, like sooooooooooooo many bloggers and haters have said that the conference is much more inferior than others. Here is what he said:
“When you have a lot of people expressing themselves who don’t know if they’re afoot or on horseback, you tend to get some comparisons that are out of whack.”
You go, Joe. You go!
While this was a pleasantry by most sorts (the common, more in your face cliche would have been to say “people expressing themselves who don’t know their ass from a hole in the ground…”), it still has the same effect. Regardless of the implication, it’s nice that again the writing that we do–whether I agree with it or not–is recognized in this fashion. While I am sure I will get flamed on this post by haters and what not, perhaps instead of fighting over which conference is better we can just stick to the things we like and are interested in, rather than squabble over things that will really, truly, never be decided (Kind of like a national champion in college football LOL).
The Big Ten conference is what it is, plain and simple–a talented group of athletes who play their own style of football and, by most accounts, do it pretty darn well.
