Green Bay Cruises By Seattle in Snowy Conditions
Posted by RaleighWatson on January 12, 2008
It was classic weather conditions at Lambeau field, with heavy snow and cold temperatures hovering around 25 degrees. After Seattle converted two Ryan Grant fumbles into touchdowns in the first few minutes of the game, Green Bay answered by scoring touchdowns on four straight possessions. The Seahawks were outgained by over 200 yards, as the young and talented Green Bay defense held them to only 28 yards on the ground. On the other side, Green Bay’s offensive line dominated the highly regarded Seattle defensive line, while allowing Ryan Grant to rush for 201 yards and three touchdowns on 27 carries.
Before today’s game, this Packer team had been critiziced for not being a good “cold weather” football team. The critics seemed to be right on Green Bay’s first two possessions, but the Packers rallied and went on to win by a final score of 42-20.
Player of the Game: Ryan Grant rushing: 27 carries, 201 yards, 3 touchdowns
The obvious and popular pick for Player of the Game would have been Brett Favre, but Ryan Grant shook off two early fumbles and had a monster game for the Packers. He seemed determined to make up for the mistakes he made early in the first quarter. Brett Favre also had a fantastic game, while completing 18 out of 23 passes for 173 yards and 3 touchdowns. Another solid performance was put out by Greg Jennings, the up and coming second-year receiver out of Western Michigan. He led the Packers with 6 receptions for 71 yards, including two touchdowns.
