Copper Thieves Blackout Tucson Streets!!!
There are dark patches on the southeast side of Tucson, and it’s not because the lights are burned out. It is because copper thieves are stealing wiring in Rita Ranch. For the past two in a half years Tucson has had a problem with copper theft. The copper thieves have hit Tucson hard about 80 times in that two in a half years. Michael Graham with the City of Tucson said ” The thieves have stolen approximately 40 miles of copper wire at a replacement cost of about $250 thousand; a quarter of a million”. Rita Ranch, in southeast Tucson, has now been hit three times. On one block of Old Vail, lonely light is left to illumine about half a mile of road. Whomever is pulling the wires out of these lights, residents want them caught.    By: Heather
