(Gainesville, GA) – Wake Up Outdoors™, manufacturer of the Tree Glider™, has found a voice in syndicated radio personality “Moby in the Morning.” “He dropped me an email saying he had a friend he wanted me to meet so let’s get some catfish,” Ed Fickey, President of Wake Up Outdoors remembered. “Moby introduced me to James Lakeman, past President of the Georgia Chapter of Safari Club International.” James had been involved with SCI’s “Wish” program taking terminally ill or otherwise challenged children, as well as soldiers injured during their service to the country, on hunts from Georgia to Alaska.
The Tree Glider™ is a self-propelled deer stand that climbs the tree for the hunter. Using an electric lift system, the hunter slides a cinch connected to the lift up the tree with a modified limb trimmer. Once the cinch is tightened on the tree the stand is ready to climb whether the hunter is using a seat, wheelchair or standing. The Tree Glider™ comes with a fall protection harness from Hunter Safety Systems™.
“The Tree Glider™ was the result of my son having a football injury at Western Carolina University in 2006. We needed a way for him to be elevated for deer season – so we invented one,” Fickey states. “Then we realized there are two groups that like this stand, those who need it because of physical situations and those who want it because it is so easy and safe – no slippery ladder, no stand up – sit down, just push a button and you go!” The Tree Glider™ also has gambrel hooks to lift the game for cleaning and loading; rides in the receiver hitch of vehicles and ATVs, and has auxiliary power for special needs or seat heaters, coffee warmers or laptops!
