AIG, my take on it.

Posted by Homer2680 on September 17, 2008 | Leave a Comment

The Fed got 79.9% of AIG shares as collateral.  AIG has 2 years to repay any money they borrow.  The 85 billion they were promised is a lind of credit, not a one time loan.  The Fed does not want to take over AIG.  Think of it this way, if you have a mortgage the mortgage company does not want your house, they want you to repay your loan.  Same with AIG the Fed does not want AIG, they want them to repay their loan.

As for the asset AIG is going to sell off, they have 2 years to do it.  They don’t have to be sold overnight, so maybe that will be a higher price.

Also if the housing market picks back up, AIG will be in a great position.  Right now they have to write off all of their loses cause of the houseing market, if the market picks back up they get to write everything as a gain.

NFL Week 1 Surprises.

Posted by Homer2680 on September 8, 2008 | Leave a Comment

Tom Brady, done for the year!  Lets see who plays next week.  I would not be surprised if Culpepper gets a call to possibly start.

The Eagles looked great, everything we clicking and they played very well against a bad team.

San Diego and Indy get their asses handed to them, are they really that bad?  Or just a bump in the road?

Next week we got Dallas vs Eagles on Monday night football.  Should be a real test for the Eagles to see if they can contend for the NFC East.

Gatorfish caught.

Posted by Homer2680 on July 31, 2008 | Leave a Comment

I was looking online for some strange fish stories.  Well I found it, a Gatorfish.  Never saw one of these before, could it be something like the snakehead fish that has been caught on the east coast?  Whatever it is it’s weird.

Trade deadline is like Christmas Eve.

Posted by Homer2680 on July 30, 2008 | Leave a Comment

Well it is 20 hours before the deadline comes, and everyone is sitting and waiting to see if their team will be buyers or sellers.  Where will Manny go?  Will he even be traded?  With football around the corner this will determine if you turn your attention to fall baseball or toward kickoff.  I hope my Phillies make some big moves to win the NL east.  If not GO EAGLES!

NASCAR / Goodyear should be ashamed of themselves

Posted by Homer2680 on July 28, 2008 | 2 Comments

If anyone saw the race this weekend at Indy should have not wasted their time.  Goodyear’s tires for the race were horrible.  NASCAR had to put out a yellow flag every 10 laps to have everyone come in and get new tires.  That is not racing, racing is about strategy.  Knowing there will be a caution flag every ten laps takes a huge factor out of the race.  It is like a pitcher in baseball only throwing fastballs, not that hard to hit the ball when you know what is coming.

I feel bad for the people who shelled out good money to see the race, they did not see a race, they saw something that should have never happened.

NASCAR should allow other tire manufactures to make tires.  It would push Goodyear to make the best product.  Without competition  you never really get better.

Bartman won’t cash in.

Posted by Homer2680 on July 24, 2008 | Leave a Comment

Steve Bartman has refused yet another offer to cash in on the moment he became the most famous — or infamous — Chicago Cubs fan in history.

Bartman friend Frank Murtha says that Bartman won’t accept an offer of $25,000. For the money, all Bartman would have to do is attend the National Sports Collectors Convention in Rosemont and autograph a photograph taken of when he tipped a foul ball that seemed destined for Cubs’ outfielder Moises Alou’s glove during a 2003 playoff game with the Florida Marlins.

Bartman was vilified by Cubs fans, who thought that he helped prevent the team from reaching the World Series. Alou has made conflicting statement on whether he would have caught the ball.

Bartman has declined all offers to appear or make money off his brush with fame.

As part of its announcements for the 2008-09 season, NBC has confirmed that a series version of the revamped Knight Rider, which aired as a TV movie/back-door pilot in February, will be part of the Fall line-up. It’s currently scheduled for Wednesdays at 8pm.

“We saw it with Terminator [The Sarah Connor Chronicles], and we saw it with Bionic Woman,” said Ben Silverman, co-chairman of NBC, during the network’s upfront presentation in New York. “Big openings, big branded titles, draw open the tent, and the show didn’t deliver on that $10 million pilot. What we’re doing with Knight Rider is we consciously delivered it on air so that we had nine months to make sure that series is great.”

Here’s the network’s official description: “On the heels of NBC’s hit movie, the iconic 1980s television classic comes roaring back to life as an updated drama series showcasing the new customized KITT (Knight Industries Three Thousand) Ford Mustang. As the sequel resumes, KITT is absolutely the coolest car ever created: its supercomputer capable of hacking almost any system; its weapons systems efficient; and its body – thanks to its creator’s work and nanotechnology – is capable of actually shifting shape and color. It is the ultimate car – and someone will be willing to do anything to obtain it.

Knight Rider stars Justin Bruening (Cold Case), Deanna Russo (NCIS), Sydney Tamiia Poitier (Veronica Mars) and Bruce Davison (Breach). David Bartis (Heist, The O.C.), Doug Liman (Mr. and Mrs. Smith, The Bourne Identity) and Gary Scott Thompson (Las Vegas, The Fast and The Furious) are executive producers and David Andron serves as supervising producer and writer. Based on characters created by Glen Larson, Knight Rider is from Universal Media Studios and Dutch Oven Productions.”

Noticeably absent from the announcement: Who will perform the voice of KITT. There was a last-minute recasting for the TV film when Will Arnett was forced out due to a conflict of interest; Val Kilmer redubbed the car’s lines only a couple of weeks before air date. Kilmer has been cast in a mini-series slated for fall 2008, XIII, so his availability – even for a role you can literally phone in – is unclear.

What does the Hoff think about this?  See the article I found below.

The actor insists the new incarnation is doomed to fail without his star name attached.
Bitter Hasselhoff, who played Michael Knight on TV from 1982 to 1986, says, “It’s going to miss the target a little bit… It’s like have Indiana Jones without Indiana Jones.”
Hasselhoff recently told WENN he’ll have nothing to do with the TV series because producers ignored his ideas for the project’s hit pilot and ousted him as a guest star.
Hasselhoff claims he came up with the idea of reviving the franchise and even presented TV bosses with a plot treatment for the show.
But when producers decided to take a different direction for the TV pilot, which aired in America earlier this year (08), and cut Hasselhoff out, the Baywatch creator decided he wanted nothing to do with the new Knight Rider.
He revealed, “They asked me to come in and do a cameo and promote it and I said I would. But it was not what I had in mind.
“I didn’t get a chance to see the show until the final product and it was clearly not what it could’ve been. It was someone else’s vision.”

American Commerce Center in Philadelphia

Posted by Homer2680 on July 18, 2008 | Leave a Comment

Looks like Philly might be getting the 3rd largest building in the United States.  The new building will go up around 19th and Arch streets in the city.  It will be 1500 feet, that is about 600 feet taller than the new Comcast Center that was just completed.  Zoning restrictions are currently being changed in Philly to allow for a building of that height and size.  Just google American Commerce Center in Philadelphia and you can get their site and leasing info.

Xbox hooks up with Netflix

Posted by Homer2680 on July 15, 2008 | Leave a Comment

Lazy asses around the world rejoice!

On Monday, Microsoft announced that it is partnering up with Netflix so Xbox 360 owners can play movies on demand through their consoles.

Under the agreement, the streaming-movie service will be playable on televisions connected to the console without any additional software or hardware.

About 10,000 movie titles will be available through the service.

Hopefully they’re ‘good’ movie titles.

Pretty cool!
