Weekend Trip to Practice Some Photography
June 1, 2006

Next to hunting a big game animal I like photographing them. I think hunting makes me a better photographer and photography makes me a better hunter. I study and observe the animals and attempt to learn patterns and behaviors to help me in both hunting and photographing.Â
Â
I like to go to the zoo because I can practice photography techniques and experiment with setting up good photos. The animals are a bit more accustomed to people and somewhat easier models to work with then their wild counterparts.Â
Â
The North Carolina Zoo is a very good one with a more natural appearance to the confinement areas for the animals. One of my favorite animal exhibits is the Polar Bear and the two bears they have were rescued from a circus in 2002. I can tell you that these bears look much healthier then when they first arrived.Â
I used both a digital and a film camera to shoot with. These photos are ones I took with the digital camera the film will take a few days to get developed. I think you can see that with this being one of the first really warm days there was a general theme with many of the animals. ZZZZZZZZÂ
I find that practicing often helps me when I’m out in the wild photographing and the photo opportunity presents itself that I can capitalize on it. You want to be a better photographer? Well like anything else get out there and practice it as much as you can.

Moose Droppings is a place that chronicles my journey, I’ll explore new places and ideas I’ll learn new things and I’ll teach the things I’ve learned to others. Join me on the adventure and hopefully it will help you in your outdoor endeavors.

Great photos!
