Alaska is a beautiful place but a very unforgiving place if your not careful. This story of a Father & Son Sheep Hunting Trip and the horrible accident that took place is a gripping story. Although this is a newspaper account it reads more like a short story.

Dawn was breaking over the Wrangell Mountains when Rick Collins faced the decision no parent should ever have to make.

He could stay where he was with his arms wrapped around son Jake until the 22-year-old died, or he could make a days-long journey for help knowing the odds were low that rescuers would make it back before Jake slipped from unconsciousness into death.

I can’t even imagine how tough a decision that was for him to make. Here is a link to the entire story with the incredible outcome to a horrible nightmare.
