More Deer Tags in the Future for Tarheel Hunters?
October 15, 2006

Wes Seegar chairman of the NC Wildlife Commission recently told a local reporter they are;
Seegar said well-equipped hunters should expect quite a deer crop this season. He said disease reduced the deer population about four years ago, but it has greatly rebounded.
“Quite frankly, I think a lot of communities would like to see a lot more deer taken than we have,” said Seegar, adding new legislation is pending to allow hunters to harvest more deer next season.
I suspect that any changes will be to the piedmont and eastern zones, currently the mountains have a much shorter season then the rest of the state, adding days to the west would make more sense then increasing tags. I hope the addition is for anterless deer and tied to a statewide 2 buck limit. Will keep ya posted on any changes.
