Why do I Blog?

I get ask this question or something similar often and a post on Black Bear Blog got me thinking about it. Depending on the day or my mood I have a wide range of answers but I’m going to try to give you my best answer on that subject.
I have evolved into a blogger over the past few years. I discovered the internet when I returned to school in the late 90’s. I was fascinated by the ability to read what’s happening in other parts of the world or to find specific information about just about any topic. I first used it for researching papers and projects for my education but it wasn’t long before it crossed over into my passion for hunting.
I became involved with message boards and forums where I talked with other hunters. Some have become close friends and we hunt all over the country together. On these forums I made a lot of posts and I shared stories I found about the great outdoors with others. I became the storyteller of sorts as well as the research guy, people still contact me wanting me to help them find some particular information.
These is all great stuff but message forums are kind of here and now 6 months latter the same question may come up but there is no great way for people to easily find that information.
My purpose in writing Moosedroppings is to educate, inform, entertain, and encourage interaction with nature in general. An important part is to build on the information already provided in earlier posts as well as let new people easily connect to that information whether it is a week old or a year old. I add links right inside the story itself or you can find a topics index off to the side that will link you with much of the information. I hope my posts help you and push you to learn more about the great outdoors.
Most of us can’t just quit what we are doing and pick up a new career as an outdoor writer or outdoor film producer. Blogging gives you the opportunity to experiment with this and who knows where it might take you. I’m part of the Skinny Moose network and they make it easy to get into blogging. The world of blogs is expanding and it is becoming more then just writing there is video blogs and audio blogs. I may have to experiment some with them in the future. If you have any interest in getting started in bloging there’s a lot of resources out there to help you just google starting a blog. If your interest is about the outdoors you should check out Skinny Moose, I move to this network back in May, I’ve found them to be very helpful.
I hope you find Moosedroppings to be a place you like to stop by and I’ll try to keep entertaining and educating about the great outdoors.

Nice post, Moose and thanks for sharing a bit more of yourself.
