Mike’s on Target this Week “Take a Doe and Help the Herd”
October 20, 2006
I too think this is one of the best things we can do to help improve the health of the deer herd and improve our hunting.
The philosophy of “Let ‘em go; let ‘em grow” is an integral part of herd management for trophy bucks, but hunters must remember that doe harvest is a big component. Having fewer mouths on a given tract of land allows for better nutrition. Fewer does also makes the bucks have to look harder for does to breed, which can make for increased rutting behavior familiar to hunters.

Moose Droppings is a place that chronicles my journey, I’ll explore new places and ideas I’ll learn new things and I’ll teach the things I’ve learned to others. Join me on the adventure and hopefully it will help you in your outdoor endeavors.
