Hey Rudy From My Cold Dead Hands

February 12, 2007

Rudy Giuliani is barnstorming around the country attempting to position himself for a presidential run. Mayor Giuliani did a remarkable job after the 911 terrorist attacks and he has my utmost respect for the leadership he demonstrated under extremely trying times. With that said his stance on many issues but especially gun control is troubling for me and countless other law abiding citizens that he would like to deny constitutional rights to. This weekend while on the left coast he attempted to spin his anti gun stance while mayor of New York;

“I used gun control as mayor,” he said at a news conference Saturday during a swing through California. But “I understand the Second Amendment. I understand the right to bear arms.”

He went on to say that his actions as mayor had no effect on hunting. That Mr. Giuliani is the problem you clearly do not understand the second amendment it has nothing to do with hunting.

A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.

As Mayor his view was the only two legitimate reasons to own firearms was law enforcement and hunting. Despite his attempt to reassure us that as president he would be a conservative leader I don’t think we can trust him to protect our second amendment rights.

    I should note the video is from a press confrence while he was mayor and what he thought of gun ownership then. With that and his comments this weekend I don’t see any real change in his views.

    It’s sad. There aren’t any pro-gun Republican candidates. Even Romney’s record is shaky at best. Richardson — a Democrat — is the only pro-gun candidate in the race.

    I think there should be a law that any politician that is in favor of gun control must have unarmed body guards. If they think normal citizens don’t deserve the right to armed self defense, then they shouldn’t have it either.

    Stock up on ammo and high capacity mags, because they’re going away.
