Burr & Dole and The OLF

The N&O is reporting that neither of the senators from North Carolina sees the need to intervene in the Navy’s controversial site location for the Outlying Landing Field in Washington County next door to a National Wildlife Refuge.
Sens. Elizabeth Dole and Richard Burr said they will try to ensure that the Navy follows the law and addresses North Carolina’s concerns. But they also said that they don’t want to interfere in the armed service’s process to find a suitable location for the airfield.
“At this point, it’s a matter of the process,” Dole said. “We still need to get answers to the questions.”
Said Burr, “I don’t think it’s a member of Congress’ role to tell the Navy where or where not to place something.”
Senators you are our elected representatives to the United States Senate and as thus you should speak on behalf of North Carolinians. Sticking your heads in the sand or “letting the process” happen is not leadership. One may question how legitimate the process is when gags are placed on US Fish & Wildlife personnel that have knowledge of the area and the species that will be affected.
At the Dixie Deer Classic last weekend there was a display about the Red Wolf in North Carolina and its reintroduction. There was a uniformed US Fish & Wildlife person there that when I brought up the OLF and the impact on the Red Wolf she couldn’t really say much because of the limitations they have been put under. This is ridiculous luckily the booth was being co manned by members of the Red Wolf Coalition and I got some great information including their statement paper on the OLF. Plans to potentially control bird populations with poisons I would think would have impact on other species that may ingest dead and dieing birds.
We need to contact our Senators and demand that they represent us the citizens of North Carolina and show some leadership. Now is not the time to sit on the fence as this plan gathers more and more momentum it becomes harder and harder to stop.

Don’t be too criticasl of our congressmen Dole , Bur and throw in Jones. They are being good soldiers and good Republicans and they are obiediently following orders . Despite any personal feelings they might have about it legitimacy or injustice of a cictate of the Neocon Nazi military Putsch that controls this administration, they stand up, salute and say “Heil Cheney” , oops, ” Heil Bush”.
what kinda President do you want Jasper?? Do you want a cigar sharing while Rangers are dying, non-military supporting, minority gay supporting, wife cheating, doesn’t know what “is” is, deplenishing intelligence and military while terrorist operations increase world wide against americans President?? At least this one has made a stand. Another one like the last and you may not be able to post a blog with out acknowledging Mohamed is the prohet or be hanged.. Think about it. And instead of whining over the President do some thing to suppor the country instead of crying..
