Wildlife Adopts Most of the Changes Except Two

Good news the early turkey season was defeated and hopefully we won’t see this one again anytime soon. This was one of the proposals that was debated at the public meetings held across the state. I guess debated is not an accurate statement because I didn’t see any one speak up in favor of them. NWTF, Turkey Hunters, and former staff members all spoke out in opposition to this proposal.

The other big rule that was shot down was the bear baiting definitions which would have been an enforcement nightmare. The commission is sending a recommendation up to the legislators to make it illegal in counties with a bear season to put out any processed food as a bait. This information is at the end of the Commissions report on the meeting. I’ll continue to follow this and try to get some additional information about it in the near future. Here is a link to the Meeting Notes.
