NC Wildlife to Begin Charging for Game Lands Atlas

Well all good things must end and the free Game Land Atlas has run its course. Beginning with 2007-2008 edition the atlas will cost you $10 with proceeds being thrown back into the Game Lands fund. As a buddy of mine lamented today “Does that make any sense at all? If guys can’t afford a membership in a private hunt club and have to hunt public lands how the heck they going to come up with $10 for a map book?” Well I don’t think its that big of a deal but all the information will be available on line for free. Sometime in August NCWC will launch a new interactive website for game lands and you’ll have the ability to print them for free.

Game Lands Web site - A new interactive Web site displays detailed maps of our game lands free of charge. Search based on distance from any zip code and obtain detailed information on particular game lands. The Game Lands Web site will be online in August 2007.
New features will be added to the site based on your feedback and usage.
