Somewhat of a Wild Goose Chase Getting Federal Duck Stamp

If you plan to hunt waterfowl this year you need to remember in addition to your hunting license you need to pick up a Federal Waterfowl Stamp. I figured yesterday a ride to the post office do me some good and get me out of the house a little. Well two posts offices latter I had my stamp but this seems to be an annual occurrence finding a place that has them. I would caution you against putting it off because as we get closer and closer to the opening they may become even harder find.
September 1st will be here soon and that’s the start of the residential goose season. I’m seeing geese every where but will they be places they can be hunted when the season opens? Hard to say last year was a miserable goose season because they stayed in areas where they couldn’t be hunted. The dry weather has forced some of the farmers to cut their losses and start early on cutting silage. If you have access to silage fields you may want to check to see if they’ve been harvested yet and if the geese are using them.
