Wildlife Art Contest For Kids
North Carolina Wildlife in conjunction with the North Carolina Museum of Art is holding a wildlife art contest open to kids from kindergarten through eighth grade. Winners will have their art work published in a 2009 calendar as well as $100.
RALEIGH, N.C. (Oct. 4, 2007) – The nation’s top state wildlife magazine is holding a wildlife art contest just for kids.
Children, kindergarten through eighth grade, are eligible to enter the Kids Wildlife Art Competition co-sponsored by the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission’s Wildlife in North Carolina magazine and the N.C. Museum of Art.
Each child may enter one image of a wild animal native to North Carolina. The 12 winners will be published in a 2009 calendar that will be for sale to the public. They will also receive $100, a family membership to the N.C. Museum of Art and free copies of the calendar.
The competition is designed to encourage students (and teachers) to observe and appreciate native wildlife as an inspiration for art and science.
“Ideas can be found in nature, in your backyard, and even inside the pages of Wildlife in North Carolina,” said Michael Humphries, managing editor for the magazine. “Each entry is a chance to learn about the many different species that call North Carolina home.”
Entry requirements:
• An original composition on 8½”x11” paper, viewed horizontally
• Child’s name, age, address, phone number, grade in school and the image subject on the back of the paper
• Must be received by March 1, 2008
• Mail to Kids Wildlife Art Competition, P.O. Box 12089, Raleigh, N.C. 27605
Entries will be judged and winners contacted by April 1, 2008.
A great way to encourage young people to take an interest in wildlife and maybe learn a thing or two about the natural world.

Has the results of NC wildlife Art contest been available? Can we see winner’s pictures online?
Thx.

I don’t believe these have ever been featured on line but it’s a great idea. A search of both NCWRC & the Art Museum websites turned up nothing. Sorry but it’s just not available.

Thx for the info. Good to know that the contest was ONLY open to NC kids. Because the original contest post did not mention the contest was only to NC kids. I live outside NC and found the contest info from internet and my kids participated. Is there any way to get back my kids’ original submission? Could you let me know how to contact the party to get back my kids’ work (I can pay the postage) since they are NOT NC residences and their work might not be judged at all. Thank you very much.

I don’t know if this will work but try this email michelle.slaton@ncwildlife.org
It is the only email I can find for the magazine that has a person’s name attached to it. She is the contact person for getting copies of stories in the magazine if she can’t help you maybe she can direct you to someone who can.
