Update On The Circumstances Around the Death of Jocelyn Leger

    Oct 12, 2007 @ 07:52 am by Moose

Jocelyn Leger hunting guide and a member of Avery Pro Staff was killed Wednesday Afternoon while guiding a snow goose hunt in Sainte-Flavie Quebec a remote area along the Saint Lawrence River. He was part of a group of 6 hunters hunting out of layout blinds with a large decoy spread (500+ Decoys) when a man not associated with their party saw the decoy spread from the road and attempted to illegal kill a goose with a rifle. Jocelyn was struck by a single 22 round in the head those hunting with him immediately began efforts to try to safe his life to no avail. The unidentified 59 year old man from nearby town of Price fled the scene but not before members of Jocelyn’s hunting party got the license plate number off his car.

One fellow fighter Jocelyn Leger came out of the woods to go to fetch help. Pendant ce temps, le chasseur à l’origine du drame, un homme de 59 ans originaire de Price, une petite localité située près de Mont-Joli, a tenté de fuir les lieux du drame. Meanwhile, the hunter at the root of the tragedy, a man aged 59 from Price, a small village near Mont, attempted to flee the scene of the tragedy.
Il semblerait que l’homme avait tout bonnement décidé de s’arrêter sur le bord de la route pour chasser à cet endroit. It seems that the man had simply decided to stop on the roadside to hunt at that point. C’est grâce à la présence d’esprit d’un des chasseurs qui a pris en note le numéro de plaque du suspect que les policiers ont réussi à l’arrêter. Thanks to the presence of mind of a fighter who has noted the number plate of the suspect that police were able to arrest him.

Canoe News Story French English Translation provided in quote above

The unidentified shooter in the French News reports was arrested at his home a short time latter and has been arraigned on the charge of Negligent use of a Firearm and he was released on a promise to appear.
Jocelyn Leger died a few hours latter at the hospital despite the efforts to save him. Such a tragic and senseless death we’ll continue to follow this story as more information comes out. Our thoughts and prayers are with Jocelyn’s (Josh’s) family and friends as they struggle with this tragedy.

While you might want to try on watches before you buy one, just like some hunting and fishing equipment definitely requires some hands-on experiences to buy, there are still plenty of things you can shop for online. You may be able to find the watch band you need or a particular quality of karabiners, for example, and online shopping may be your answer.

    3. My most heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of Officer Leger. I am a former K9 handler, current federal law enforcement officer, hunter and fisherman. I never had the pleasure of knowing Officer Leger, but I do appreciate everything Officer Leger contributed to the law enforcement community. May God receive Jocelyn Leger in His loving arms and reward him for a job well done.

    4. I as well did not know Officer Leger, but as a member of US law enforcement and an avid hunter and waterfowler, I find this a seriously tragic loss. My sincere condolences go out to Officer Leger’s family and friends.
