Raleigh Man Wins Nevada Duck Stamp Contest

James P Edwards of Raleigh North Carolina had his painting of a pintail duck selected as next years Nevada Duck Stamp. Mr. Edwards is a graphic artist by trade but wants to be a renowned wildlife artist worked evenings on completing his winning entry.
Edwards painting is outstanding in that it is understated. It depicts a scene Edwards describes as peaceful and quiet in evening light. “There are areas upon which eyes can rest, and area of uniqueness, like the beads of water on the duck,” he explained. Edwards said he “got lost” in the detail of the pintail, which is one of his favorite duck species.
Congratulations to Mr. Edwards and I suspect this is first of many honors for his wildlife art.
