Efforts Continue to Find John Bryant Missing Hiker in Pisgah National Forest
December 13, 2007
Yesterday authorities used a helicopter and a small search team to recheck the area around the “Cradle of the Forestry” in Pisgah National Forest for any signs of John Bryant. John & his wife Irene went missing in Pisgah National Forest while hiking back on the 21st of October. It was some time (about 3 weeks) before officials even had a location to start their search once the Bryant’s son located the couple’s parked car in Pisgah National Forest.
Days into the search the discovery of Irene’s bludgeoned body turned this missing hikers case into a criminal investigation. John Bryant has not been heard from and investigators are confident that he is not in any way involved in the death of his wife. The couples ATM card was used in Tennessee to withdraw money from their bank account and it was speculated that John could have been forced to give up the pin#.
Now that the leaves have come off the trees the authorities returned to the area to see if they could find any additional clues to help them in the search for John. Our hope is that John is found and the killer of Irene is brought to justice soon.
