I can understand the slow economy, but to blame warm weather during hunting season seems like a big strecth.

Good post. You'd think from watching the hunting shows that everyone had a TC, and that they'd be doing fine. Jeff's right though, fuel costs hurt everyone.

Moose,
Many lowcountry hunters are from out of state (mostly from Florida in the clubs and from the northeast at the commercial places), and I hear from a lot of them that they are either cutting down on the number of trips they make here or choosing to join clubs that are closer to home. Because even if they can afford the club dues, they still have 3 to $4 a gallon gas to buy to get here... So I believe it is going to be a tough year in the small towns around us when they don't get as much business as they are used to during deer season.
Also wanted to let you know that we used one of your suggestions yesterday. We sat down with our two boys and cut up a bunch of old hunting mags and then glued the pics on poster board. I know you said that you guys shoot them, and I guess as they get older, so will we. However for now their hunting art is hanging on our fridge.

[...] Recently Filed - Listing of Entries on Electronic House wrote an interesting post today onHere’s a quick excerpt Thompson Center Arms has laid off 36 employees citing the poor economy as well as an unseasonable warm hunting season. While I’m sure that the downturn in the economy has had a huge impact I scratch my head on the warmer hunting season. Global warming gets blamed for everything. Granted this past season was a bit warmer around here then normal but I don’t recall anyone opting to go swimming rather then going hunting. I guess one could not say it was a lack of advertising when it seems just ab [...]
