Next Up Turkeys

With less than a week to go till the opening of the turkey season here in North Carolina that is where my mind is right now. I’m addicted to turkey hunting and no 12 step program or going cold turkey is going to break my habit. The wild turkey here in North Carolina has only been huntable in all 100 counties for a few years now. Every year the flock expands into new territory and with that more and more hunters decide to take a crack at the old thunder chicken.
This week I’m going to post some stories to help those maybe just getting started and a good reminder to those who have the addiction like I do. If you’ve never filled a turkey tag and maybe have been trying for a season or two don’t despair your day is coming. I was in that very situation a number of years ago. I tried and tried but couldn’t get it done till I hooked up with an old pro (at least that is what he tells me). I think that is the single best advice I could give you if you’re trying to learn how to hunt turkeys just get with someone that already knows how to do it.
