I have been quite busy for the last week. I ahve not had a chance to update the blog here so I will try to get everyone caught up now. I have been doing well with my efforts to quit smoking. I am up to day 22 and still doing good. I have been posting my weekly article to clique Clack food and working on a couple of new articles for the Campfire News. The May issue will be out soon and I will let everyone know when it is available. I have also spent a good amount of time in the forums on Talk Hunting. I spent the weekend with my wife, inlaws, and grandson in Washington. My grandson is 8 months old and is so much fun to play with. I had a blast. The weather was crap but I had a great time.
I saw close to 100 Elk on the drive over. three of them I know were bulls. One had a good start to next years antlers, while the other two were still sporting their spike racks from last year. I spend some time checking out my timber patch on my place in Washington. I have a lot of under brush to clean up but there was very little downed tiber from the winter storms.

Well I have been busy enjoying the 80 degree weather we have been having here in Idaho so I have missed my updates for a few days. The last few days have been a bit stressful and that has made me look for the smokes more. I have resisted them, but just the fact that I go looking for them when I get stressed pisses me off. I can not believe how deeply those damn things have gotten hooked into me. It is amazing to me just how addictive cigarettes are. I am far enough out that I feel like I am going to be able to kick the habit, but it is not over yet.

I have gone fishing 4 times so far this spring. I have not caught much yet, but I have had a good time being out wetting a line. The weather is getting better here in Idaho and the fishing is starting to improve. I have also had to pick up a bunch of garbage left behind by some inconsiderate jackass. I am tired of having to pack someone elses garbage home to put in my trash. Why is it so hard for people to just pick up after themselves? I stopped for a short time at Wilson Spring Ponds in Nampa. The ponds are right across the street from the Fish and Game office. There are trash cans and restrooms there and I still had to pick up garbage to put in the trash cans.

This weekend has been stressfull for me. I have not had a good weekend. I went fishing Friday afternoon and again Saturday. The fishing was not that good so I did not get my mind off of the stress by catching fish. It was nice to get out and enjoy being at the edge of the pond, but I was still to stressed to fully relax and enjoy it. I have not found anything yet that will relieve my stress os I have been keeping busy to keep my mind off of cigarettes. They are my go to stress reliever so it has been hard. I have been able to resist however and have stayed away from them.

I stopped off at Duff Lane Pond on my way home from work today (April 17, 2009) to do a little fishing. Duff lane pond is one of the network of Family Fishing waters maintained by the Idaho Fish and Game department. Duff Lane Pond is located on Duff Lane about a mile east of Middleton on Highway 44. The pond is full of Bluegill, Large Mouth Bass, and Trout. When I arrived at the pond and walked out on the dock I saw lots of small Bluegill swimming around in the water. As I rigged up my pole I also saw several 6 to 8 inch Bass, and ocasionally a larger Bass would cruise through the area sending the Bluegill scurrying for cover. I tried several different spinner baits and lures but was unsucessfull in catching any of the larger fish. I switched to a small egg hook with a single red Salmon egg on it and did catch a few of the small Bluegill, but even the Bluegill were not biting like I expected. The weather has been fairly cold lately so I suspect that the fish are still coming out of their winter funk. I think the fishing will improve this weekend as the temperatures are forcast in the upper 70’s

The last two days have been much better for me. I have not had any cravings for cigarettes and have been feeling very good. I hope things continue to go this way.

So my question is, do we have to wait for the Somali Pirates to carry out this threat before we act? Is the threat enough to get our government to act?
