Rick Passek is The Fledgling FlyFisher
February 2, 2007
Skinny Moose Media would like to announce our newest blogger from BC, Canada. He will be blogging at The Fledgling FlyFisher
Here is Passek’s bio:
My name is Rick Passek, I have been fishing for as long as I can remember. My Father was a crazy fisherman for as long as I have been around, and watching him Fly Fish is what sparked my interest. I was born in Calgary Alberta in 1969, and moved to Surrey BC in 1978. I have lived here in Surrey ever since, and have grown up once again learning from my father. Once we moved here from Calgary my Father stopped Flyfishing and took up ocean fishing. I enjoyed this, but found it to be more luck than skill. As I got older I got married and had 1 son, and moved my new family to Vernon BC. This is when my interest in Fly Fishing took off. I took classes and fished, fished, fished and became almost obsessed. I have in the mean time taken in every piece of knowledge I could and have benefited from this. I have just recently started teaching my own Fly Fishing Classes as well as offering guided trips for trout, Salmon, and sturgeon through my company Rp3 Fishing Adventures. I am a member of the FFF (Federation of Fly Fishers) in the USA and a member of the BCFFF in Canada. I have also just completed writing my first book due out in mid March. The book is a basic guide for the beginner fly fisher. The name of the book is The Fledgling Flyfisher ( The “Reel” facts on Flyfishing). I have written the book for the everyday person, I tried to not get to technical and that is how I will be writing my blog. I hope this gives you some insight into myself and I just hope that what I write will get some of the beginners to love and respect this sport as much as I do.
