		<description>I realize it will sound self serving coming from a designer, but I really agree with number 9. I&#039;d call it a bad template though, rather than ugly. Designs can be reasonably good looking and still function poorly. In the interest of full disclosure, I do use black text on a white background for my personal blog, &lt;a href=&quot;http://douglast.com/thoughts/&quot; rel=&quot;nofollow&quot;&gt;Thoughts on Design&lt;/a&gt;, but I like to think I have enough visual interest to keep it from being annoying.

A good template is one that has good readability, as well as reliable functionality. It doesn&#039;t have to be graphically spectacular, but it can&#039;t be annoying. It should also be at least somewhat relevant to the subject matter, don&#039;t you think?</description>
