There were just a few people who tuned in Thursday afternoon to listen to Open Air with Tom Remington. In this first broadcast he interviewed me over the phone about the launching of Skinny Moose Radio. We will be providing a lot of our radio shows with downloadable links so you can listen to them on your computer after the show airs.

Open Air to Broadcast First Show at 3pm (EST)
September 13, 2007
Tune in today at Skinny Moose Radio to listen to Open Air at 3pm. This show is hosted by Tom Remington of the Black Bear Blog. Today’s show will be Tom and myself (Steve) chatting about our plans for Skinny Moose Radio. Each week we will air the show. This is what Tom wrote in reference to what the show will be about each week:
“What I envision for Open Air with Tom Remington is not just me but a lot of participation from other people, other sportsmen and activists who really love the outdoors and are worried that with the trends taking place all around us, there will be no more outdoors to enjoy. I want to talk with other people and talk about the things that really matter. We have to get outdoor sports people talking and becoming vocal. We have stayed quiet for so long that many feel like we don’t care about the issues. That has to change.
“I chose the title “Open Air” because I wanted to be able to let listeners know that the topics of my discussions will reach deeper and wider than mostly hunting issues, which is what the Black Bear Blog is all about. Open means the subject material is wide open and the air signifies the outdoors. When you combine the two together, it should provide for some fantastic topics for conversation.”
So make sure to tune in and let us know what you think. We like feedback ![]()
Skinny Moose Radio Blog Officially Launches
August 31, 2007
Skinny Moose Media’s newest project is the opening of our Online Radio Station. We have been playing mostly Country and Classic music and gave people a sneak peak and link to go listen while we set up some shows. We have a few shows already set up and more on the way. We think it is time to officially launch the new blog.
You can visit the new blog here. We also will be providing a schedule of shows that will air each week. We still have some surprises coming up that have yet to hit the blog. We hope to sculpt our programming to fit the ears of our listeners.
Today, we will be airing the first of a weekly show. At 1pm (EST) the Moose Droppings Show will broadcast. Today’s show is roughly 20 minute long. Dan of Moose Droppings has announced it on his blog.
So what is the show exactly? Here is what Dan has provided for insight.
This show will be an extension of the blog Moose Droppings so each week I’ll bring you items of interest from the great outdoors. Topics we will cover will include hunting techniques, hopefully some actual in the field hunts as well as interviews with interesting people. I will include other topics of interest including photography, fishing, and travel. So join me for an informative look at the wild world around me.
On Tuesdays we will be airing an hour show called the Michael Zavala Show. This show is unrelated to the outdoors in anyway. 3 guys sit around and talk about movies, famous people, current events, and basic non-sense.
Every Wednesday we will play Joe Perham’s CD “The Guide to Hunting and Fishing in Maine.” Joe Perham is a Maine Humorist and public speaker.
We also have a few things coming to Skinny Moose Radio. Bryan from deerPhD will be broadcasting random hunting tips. There are some other Skinny Moose bloggers who are interested in doing shows and we are in the early stages of making it happen. So check out our new Skinny Moose Radio Blog and make sure to check in often to see any new shows.
If you are interested in doing a show please contact us.
Network Update: A Look Ahead
August 28, 2007
Someone had suggested to me that I should post here at the blog every once in a while letting people know what the near future looks like for the Network. They told me I should post more often some of the things we are doing here and a sneak peak on some new blogs. So that is what I will do maybe on a weekly basis.
First and foremost, we have a whole slew of new bloggers joining the Network. I would say maybe a half dozen or more new blogs will be coming to Skinny Moose in the next week or two. Here is a look at what types of blogs to expect:
1) Canoing/Rafting blog
2) Another look inside Nascar
3) A bowhunter out of North Carolina
4) Hunting blog
5) Travel/Lodging blog
Those are the ones I can think of off the top of my head.
So what are some other things we are working on here at the Network? We are still in the process of gathering programming for our new Radio station. It has been a lot of fun and a lot more behind the scenes set up and organizing than I had originally expected. For the last week I have spent a lot of time getting things set up. You can still click on the radio button and listen to music. We will begin posting program schedules probably by next week so you will all get an idea what you will expect to hear. You may actually catch us testing out some programs this week but there will be no set times.
So how will we let you all know about programs on the Radio? Skinny Moose Media will be creating a separate blog in the near future where we will list out shows, dates, and times. We will provide you a short description of what the show will be like and when you can login and listen.
So what types of programming do we have lined up? Though it isn’t a complete secret I still won’t get too detailed but we have a couple guys out of Texas who will be doing a fishing show. This is actually at the very early stages so it could be another couple weeks before we can begin airing anything.
There will be a weekly hunting tip done by one of our bloggers in the Network. We are still looking for someone to provide daily news. This is a larger commitment so it may take some time before we can get news.
We also have a couple other shows in the making which would involve mostly hunting, fair chase issues, interviews, and ethical hunting topics.
If you are interested in providing a show, or content for Skinny Moose Radio please contact us soon so we can look over your proposal.
Skinny Moose Radio is Now Here
August 23, 2007
We are still in the beginning stages of developing Skinny Moose Radio. But we have now opened up the airwaves for people to listen in and give us feedback.
Some things we are looking for:
1) More programming - We will always be looking for programming. We have a few shows but it is amazing the amount of room we have. If you would like to provide a weekly or daily hunting or fishing show or tip, please contact us directly.
2) Feedback - We are looking for feedback on what types of shows you would like to listen to. Also we have music in between shows. Currently we have Rock and Country. If you have favorite artists or songs please let us know. The radio is for you… so please let us know.
3) Presence - If you don’t necessarily have a show, but want to make a presence on our broadcast we offer imaging at a low cost. We can create 20 second promos in your name. This is also good for the small business as the prices are completely affordable and we can get your name out there.
So listen in. How? In the upper right corner of the blog you will see a Radio Button. Click on that and your default player should open. Give it time to buffer and it will listen in live….
The other option is to download our toolbar here. In the toolbar there is a radio player. Simply click on that and it should drop down and provide some radio stations to listen to. Click on Skinny Moose Radio.
If you already have the toolbar installed you can choose to update the toolbar. Or re-install the toolbar real quick to see the new radio station listing.
We will also be announcing programming here at the blog so you will have an idea what types of shows will be playing and when.
So Tune in and enjoy!!!
