The waiting game
A few decades abo, when Monday Night Football was conceived, I doubt anyone could fathom the stress it would cause fantasy football owners years later.
The problem that many of us likely feel today. We enter Monday with a fantasy lead, but our opponent has players — good players — going tonight while your team is done. If you are leading by just a couple points, you might be resigned to believe you will lose, but if you have a little more of a cushion (but not too much), you will be on pins and needles all night.
I’m leading in two leagues where my foe has Reggie Wayne going tonight. I figure I’m toast if Wayne scores two TDs and gains 60 yards. That’s a tall order but nowhere near impossible. Hence my trepdiation to watch the Colts/Jaguars game tonight. I’m rooting for Marvin Harrison, just as I’m sure there are some Harrison owners rooting for Wayne.
Maybe the NFL’s next innovation is time-warping fantasy owners to the MNF game. I’d buy (well, at least rent), that DeLorean.
