Week 10 redux - Da NFL Blog - Fantasy football advice and NFL musings that would make Coach Ditka proud

Week 10 redux

There were some entertaining games over the weekend, especially the Giants’ 36-31 victory over the Eagles. What was Philly thinking, though, with two straight running plays on its failed final drive?

Other musings from the weekend:

– The Bears need to cut Rex Grossman now, even before Kyle Orton returns from his injury. If Grossman is on the team, it will be too tempting to play him. At this point, even if it’s just psychologically, they are better off with Caleb Hanie starting.

– After the Bills’ great start, they are in big trouble. If they don’t turn things around soon, they will end up last place in the AFC East, after a 4-0 start. Buffalo hosts Cleveland on Monday night, and the Bills’ offense better wake up or the team wil fall to 5-5.

– Joe Flacco and Matt Ryan are emerging as decent NFL quarterbacks. And Brady Quinn, despite not being a rookie, turned in a nice game last week against Denver. Still holding out hope for Alex Smith in 2009 …

– Chiefs coach Herm Edwards made a gutsy call by going for a two-point conversion and the win at San Diego, even if it failed. But I can’t help but wonder: Does losing in overtime hurt a 1-8 team’s confidence more than not winning the game at the end of regulation? There is a bottom tier of six really bad teams, and if I had to bet which team was going to bust out of it to finish 4-12, it might be the Chiefs.
