This week, the Arizona Senate passed two important pro-gun bills (Senate Bill 1113 and Senate Bill 1243). Both bills now head to the House where they await a committee assignment.

SB1113 was passed yesterday by an 18-10 vote (with two not voting). Introduced by State Senator Jack Harper (R-4), SB1113 would give concealed carry permit holders the right to take concealed handguns into restaurants that serve alcohol, provided they are not consuming.

SB1243 was passed on Monday by a 21-7 vote (with two not voting). Sponsored by State Senator Russell Pearce (R-18), SB1243 would clarify the statutory definition of defensive display of a firearm. This clarification of defensive display of a firearm is a valuable addition to your right to self-defense.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office Human Smuggling Unit stopped another load vehicle late yesterday, this one with 12 people inside a Chevy Astro, including the coyote.

The stop was made on I-17 near Anthem Way after deputies spotted the vehicle travelling with a rear brake light out.

Human smuggling detectives interviewed the occupants and determined that each agreed to pay between $700.00 and $1500.00 for illegal entry into the U.S. The illegals were destined for California and Mississippi.

Of those found in the vehicle, four (4) were booked into jail on state smuggling and coconspirator charges, a class four felony. The remaining were juveniles who were turned over to Immigration and Customs officials.

Sheriff Arpaio says the time for another crime suppression/human smuggling operation is drawing near. “We are readying deputies and the posse for a big upcoming operation,” Arpaio says

4 Coyotes have been found dead around Sun city golf courses, believed to have been poisoned. Being they were found near golf courses has me wondering if my last post didn’t have something to do with the poor Coyotes misfortune. Very disturbing to think that these coyotes may have payed the ultimate consequence for my spin on liberal media.

Apparently there have been reports of golfers feeding the Coyotes in this area. One other older lady had been bitten in the past trying to wrestle her dog from a Coyotes jaws. The Boy who was bitten wanted this incident to educate others in hopes to keep other children from being mistaken as a snack.

Associated Press – December 6, 2008 1:54 AM ET

DENVER (AP) – Authorities say a 9-year-old boy suffered minor injuries when a coyote snapped at him while he was snowboarding with his brother at a golf course in Erie.

The Colorado Division of Wildlife says the brothers had stopped at the bottom of a hill at about 3:30 p.m. Thursday when the coyote approached, circled the 9-year-old and lunged at him twice.

Police say the boy swatted the coyote with his snowboard, and the animal ran away.

The boy’s mother reported the incident to the Erie police and took the boy to Children’s Hospital Clinic, where he was treated and released. Details on his injuries weren’t available.

Police notified the state wildlife agency, which dispatched officers who tracked down the coyote and killed it.

The Division of Wildlife says the animal was then sent to a Fort Collins lab for testing.

I hope that it isn’t going to take loosing a child for Califonians to understand that predator numbers need to be managed through hunting.

RCADIA – Officials believe a mountain lion killed Wednesday night may have been the same cat that’s been preying on domestic pets in foothill communities over the past few weeks.

Arcadia police shot the cougar about 8 p.m. in the backyard of a home in the 2200 block of Canyon Road, a residential community that abuts the Angeles National Forest.

Officers said the mountain lion had just mauled a dog to death and was charging at police when they shot the cat with an assault weapon.

Arcadia police Sgt. Dean Caputo said the mountain lion – believed to be a 140-pound female – may have been the same cat that killed a dog in Arcadia a few days earlier and attacked two dogs in Glendora last week. One was killed.

“They are travelling quite a wide area hunting, so this one could have been anywhere up in the mountains,” Caputo said.

“You pretty much have an unrestricted area in the San Gabriel Valley mountain range.”

At least three Arcadia police officers responded to the Canyon Road home on Wednesday night after a resident reported a mountain lion sighting.

Officers found the mountain lion standing over the resident’s dead dog, an Australian Shepherd.

“She had huge paws, and she wasn’t very intimidated by our officers,” Caputo said.

The cat was being housed at the Pasadena Humane Society’s morgue and was expected to be picked up Thursday evening.

Although we all believe everyone has a right to vote and donate as they see fit, it has become apparent that the fallout may affect more than just Mr. Cooper. It may also affect the employees and the shareholders of Cooper Firearms.

WASHINGTON — Dan Cooper, a proud member of the National Rifle Association, has backed Republicans for most of his life. He’s the chief executive of Cooper Arms, a small Montana company that makes hunting rifles.

Cooper said he voted for George W. Bush in 2000, having voted in past elections for every Republican presidential nominee back to Richard Nixon. In October 1992, he presented a specially made rifle to the first President. Bush during a Billings campaign event.

This year, Cooper has given $3,300 to the campaign of Democrat Barack Obama. That’s on top of the $1,000 check he wrote to Obama’s U.S. Senate campaign in 2004, after he was dazzled by Obama’s speech at that year’s Democratic National Convention.

Cooper is a player in one of the little-told dramas of the 2008 presidential campaign: how Obama has been able to out-raise Republican John McCain among swaths of the business community, outperforming previous Democratic presidential nominees in drawing business support.

Cooper changed sides, he said, “probably because of the war. And also because the Republican Party has moved so far right in recent years.”

He also likes Obama’s message about “the retooling of America, which involves the building of middle-class jobs and helping American small business be competitive with those overseas.”

Here is the rest of the story!
