My NC trapping season
Posted by dihardhunter on February 28, 2008

Well, because it is the end of February that means that all chance of doing any more trapping this year is gone. Unfortunately, I didn’t have quite the time I have had in past years to get out and lay down some good trap lines. But that didn’t keep me from having a good week of trapping over Christmas break. I only had about a dozen traps in the ground, so I did pretty good to trap over 20 critters. The otter I’m holding was an especially nice surprise since he stuck its head in a raccoon cubby. Already making plans for next trapping season though. Got some great beaver spots picked out for next year already. I can’t wait!

Have you sold the furs yet? How did you do? Is there value in opossums?

Yea, I don’t have the time or the supplies to put my fur up myself, so I have to sell it ‘in the round’ to the Barbours down in Smithfield, NC. You know how southern furs go, I certainly don’t get out trapping to make money. And, once in a while you can get someone to buy an XXXXXXXXXXL possum, not often though.
