Carp Blitzkrieg!
Posted by dihardhunter on March 28, 2008
Well, the weather was just too nice today and the office could not hold me. I jumped in the truck and headed to my favorite wading bowfishing spot. I was disappointed when I arrived though because the beaver dam that had been holding the water up on the flats had broken and the channel was all that was left. So, I headed in anyways, out to the main lake. Saw maybe 5 fish total and didn’t even get a shot. Bummed, but it was good to be out on the water. When I got back to the truck, I saw I had about 30 minutes before I needed to head back towards Raleigh, so I decided to drive by another spot and see if there was any water in there. There was and there were the carp. Rolling on top of each other in about a foot of clear water, the shots were fast and furious. I only shot for 20 minutes, but I hit 13 and landed 8 commons. Little larger than average, about 5-6 lbs. instead of the usual 3-4 lbs. Hopefully, headed back today for a couple of hours before I head off with another buddy to do some nightfishing tonight on a local river. Should be a good day!
