Pens continue their march to Stanley Cup

After their first derailment of the 2008 NHL Playoffs in Game 4, the Penguins came back with a dominating performance yesterday afternoon to defeat the New York Rangers in 5 games and advance to the Eastern Conference Finals. Even though the ice was decidedly tilted for most of the game, the Rangers managed to prolong their golf playing days for an additional overtime period before falling to Hossa’s one-timer in the middle of the slot. Malkin showed that he can dominate a game from start to finish like few, if any, other players in the NHL can. 10 shots, hustling back-checking defense, and an offense attack that left Lundquist and the Rangers on their heels most of the afternoon made Fleury’s job in net a whole lot easier.
I believe the series opener against the Flyers will be on Friday night, so I’m looking forward to watching that game with dad as Kara and I will be in our hometown making Mother’s Day rounds. Go Pens!
