    PhD Search Completed…Auburn Bound!

Posted by dihardhunter on August 12, 2008

Well, I will be done with my graduate school here at State in December and a couple months ago I decided to take the leap and tackle a PhD in wildlife sciences while I am still young and can afford the meager income. So, long story short I had to choose between offers from West Virginia, Clemson, and Auburn. I’m going to be a Tiger…oh wait, that doesn’t help either. Ummm…more specifically, an Auburn Tiger!
Went down and interviewed a couple weeks ago, loved the area, the people, and especially the project. I’ll be doing another white-tailed deer project. This study will be on breeding suppression of younger males by mature males in a high density, older-aged class population…doing a comparison with another simultaneous project in South Carolina. The possibilities exist for lots of little side projects too, which was a big deciding factor.
Needless to say, I’m excited, but…still a lot of work to be done wrapping up my graduate degree…like writing my thesis and taking a couple more classes…lol Between all that, doing the long-distance move and real estate search is adding to the melee.  My wife is excited about the move, for which I am thankful, but it will be a big jump for us at the same time.  Guess we’ll have to really start liking college football!
