CONTESTANTS ATTEMPT TO GOBBLE THEIR WAY TO VICTORY

Bass Pro Shops 2008 U.S. Open Turkey Calling Contest

NASHVILLE, TN – The 2008 U.S Open Turkey Calling Contest finals and championship, one of the most prestigious calling contests in the country, will take place at the Bass Pro Shops Outdoor World store, Opry Mills Mall in Nashville, Tennessee, Saturday, May 17th and Sunday, May 18th.

The U.S. Open Turkey Calling Championship qualifying rounds held at the Pearl, MS; Orlando, FL; Prattville, AL; Nashville and Sevierville, TN; Clarksville, IN; Springfield and St. Louis, MO and Charlotte, NC Bass Pro Shops store locations determined competitors for the finals in Nashville. First place winners from those qualifiers received paid travel and hotel accommodations to attend the finals in Nashville. Places 2-5 also qualified with optional attendance at the finals.

The U.S. Open preliminary competition begins at 2:30pm on Saturday, May 17th. Sunday, May 18th, the top 14 callers from Saturday plus last year’s champion will compete for the championship beginning at 1pm.

The First place prize is an automatic entry to the finals of the 2009 National Wild Turkey Federation Grand Nationals, all expenses paid at the National Wild Turkey Federation 2009 National Convention, a Mossy Oak® clothing package and $5000 in cash.

Second place prize is $2,500 in cash, a Mossy Oak® clothing package and a $500 Bass Pro Shops gift card. Third place pays $1,500 in cash, a Mossy Oak® clothing package, and a $400 Bass Pro Shops gift card.
