    Another Great Post-Sledding Drink Recipe

I promised more after the first, so here’s another great warm drink to enjoy after a long day of snowmobiling!

This one comes from the Better Homes and Gardens New Cook Book (my favorite!).  It’s really simple to make, and sure to warm you up!

    Hot Buttered Rum

    3/4 C packed brown sugar

1/2 C softened margarine or butter

1/4 TSP finely shredded lemon peel (that’s why I have that in my spice cabinet….)

    1/4 TSP ground cinnamon

    1/4 TSP ground allspice

    Rum

    Boiling water

Basically, you just combine all the dry ingredients and mix them together well.  Then the base is ready to use.  You can use it right away, or you can refrigerate it (covered) and store it up to a month.

When you’re ready for a nice warm buttery drink, just combine 1 rounded tablespoon of mix, 3 Tablespoons of Rum, and 1/2 Cup boiling water in a mug and stir. Then enjoy!

The nice thing about this recipe is you can mix it up ahead of time, then store it until ready for it after sledding.  It’s a nice hot drink in a hurry that will definately chase the snowmobiling chill out of your bones!!

Here’s to happy sledding and happy drinking!

    Hot Drinks for Cool Running

AFTER a long day of snowmobiling, we all enjoy sitting around reminiscing about the day’s great rides, biffs, and busts.  Over the last few years, we’ve developed a few of our favorite warm winter drinks to enjoy post-ride around the kitchen table.  Here’s one I came up with a few years back—it’s our absolute favorite, perfect to warm you up and relax you after a long day of snowmobiling.  It’s great for relieving sore muscles, too!

    Hot Cocoa Kalhua

*Everything here is estimated—we never measure a thing save for maybe the cocoa powder!

–Prepare pot of hot chocolate—whatever your favorite brand or recipe

–In mugs, pour approx. 1/3-1/4 full with Kalhua

    –Fill with hot chocolate

    –Add dash of light cream

Nothing is simpler than this hot drink, but nothing is better post-snowmobiling, either!  If you try it (and yes you can practice even in the fall!) please drop back by & review it.  I’ll have more posts for hot snowmobile drinks in the future!
