Updates On Premier Progress
I’ve recently been in touch with Chris Bell from Premier Recreational Products Corp. It seems a few readers have had questions, which I of course am not at all qualified to answer, so instead I’ve asked Chris to come on over here, where I’ll gladly post the questions and he can come answer–accurately, straight from the “horse’s mouth”.
The word from Chris is that the first limited-run production has sold out, but dealers are still taking deposits, and a mid-season launch is most likely. Release for 2011 models is planned for early summer, with a full production expected, and momentum continuing to build! …So maybe a few growing pains, but it sounds like good things are happening, and we wish them well!
Questions For Chris Bell & Premier RC
Kicking it off, here are a few questions readers had. Chris should be stopping by in the comments, so keep a look out for his answers, and email me with anything more you want to know!
Here are our first three from reader Gregg:
#1 – How long (time wise) to change a drive belt for a consumer?
#2– are any parts made in the USA?– what parts?
#3–When will ALL dealers have display sleds?

Gregg,
Thank you for the questions; I will answer these as best I can:
#1: This is a broad question, as each consumer will have a wide degree of ability, but time to change the belt should not be more than a 20-30 minute process assuming one has the right tools and at least limited experience.
#2: We do not disclose our suppliers or parts origins as this information is always subject to change. In fact, one of our planned US suppliers recently went out of business, causing us to use a different supplier in a different country at the last minute. So hopefully you can appreciate my reluctance to disclose this information. But we do have some US content, and we will continue to include US content as best we can, especially in some of the parts most likely to wear in normal usage.
#3: Dealers were scheduled to have received their first shipments from our limited production launch during late fall. Unfortunately we had a supplier quality issue/EPA certification issue with our custom designed fuel tanks. As this process is a lengthy certification process, this issue has put our limited launch on hold indefinitely. This is the reason we have not produced any retail units and the reason no dealers have received units for sale at the time of this writing. We are working diligently on a solution, but this could ultimately delay our launch until the 2011 model year (mid 2010 release).
So to clarify we actually did sell out all that we had planned to produce for 2010 model year, but again the fuel tank issue has delayed this production launch.
I hope this answers your questions.
Sincerely,
Chris Bell
