That time of year

Well here it is that time of year. The busy season!! We are getting swamped with arrow orders, refletch, repairs and new sales. With me pushing firelanes in the morning and in the shop in the evening it doesnt leave time to do much else. But Saturday will kick off the hunting season here in TX and I plan on being out and shooting some birds. Gonna actually be in OK instead of TX this weekend though.

My friend Dave has tons of birds just south of OK city. We are going to shoot some in the morning and fish in the evening and go hang some stands on Sunday. Our big company dove hunt will be on Sept 21 and we should have about 50 people at that one. It is in Elcampo with Waterfowl Specialties, they sure enough can put you on some whitewings and geese, not to mention some big trout out of Matagorda. Last year 33 people killed 333 doves in about 3 hours or so, not to mention the beer and BBQ.

I have got to find time and run and put up my popup blinds on red branch and change the card in my cuddeback. I know I have some good bucks on film, just have to make the time to go and get them. I prefer to go in the middle of the day as I dont want to put any pressure at all on the deer. So maybe I can post some pics if I ever go get it!! One more month till we can start flinging sticks at these whitetails, or bullets on our level 3 mld club. Can’t wait to get a cool snap and get out there and get after them and also get all my control burning done till next year. It looks to be a great year with all the rain we have had and should see some really nice bucks come out of the woodwork this year. Especially in the hill country and south Tx where they have had loads of rain. My partner has already got a bunch of pics of some bucks we were seeing last year and if one of them steps out I am gonna let Ashlyn lay him on the ground. These are a couple of really nice 8pts that are in the 5 1/2 yo range. Perfect for her first big buck, I have only let her shoot does and some small culls up until this year. Didnt want to spoil her from the get go!!

Have a good weekend and open the seasons with a bang, or maybe a couple of cases of them!
